The Dallas Cowboys may have taken a break during Week 7, but they still found themselves under fire for a missed opportunity. Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, now an ESPN analyst, didn’t hold back when critiquing his old team during the Monday Night Football broadcast.
While calling the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Aikman had a sharp comment after Ravens running back Derrick Henry broke off a big run. “There are probably a lot of teams that had a chance to bring in Derrick Henry and are kicking themselves for not doing it,” Aikman said. “He has been an absolute perfect fit for this Ravens attack.”
Joe Buck chimed in, emphasizing Aikman’s point by saying, “Can you think of any teams? I’ll just throw this out there—the offseason home for Derrick Henry is in Dallas, Texas.”

Henry, a free agent who many thought would be a great fit for the Cowboys, was a player Dallas chose not to pursue. Aikman and Buck’s comments highlight how the Cowboys have become the center of attention each time Henry shines on the field.
Jerry Jones has claimed that the team couldn’t afford Henry, but fans and analysts alike find that hard to believe given Henry’s connection to Dallas. With Henry continuing to perform at a high level with the Ravens, this topic isn’t going away anytime soon. As long as he keeps making plays, the Cowboys will remain in the spotlight for letting a potential star slip away.
