12 Times Disney Villains Have A Reasonable Point For Their Actions

in DISNEY, MOVIE

Villains always play an important role in making the storyline much deeper and more engaging, thus helping to highlight all the good personalities of the main characters. Therefore, in Disney’s animations, the filmmakers always try to build several conflicts between their protagonists and antagonists to push the story to the climax and interest the audience.

Ursula stole Ariel’s voice and sent her to the mainland just to make King Tritan suffer, Mother Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel and raised her just because her magical hair could maintain her beauty forever… All these details make many people think that villains are unreasonably wicked and only want to harm the leading characters for their own good. However, that thought is not always true. There are many devils who had a valid point for their evil deeds. For instance, is it wrong when Shere Khan didn’t want to let a young boy like Mowgli live alone in the dangerous jungle? Or do you really think that it is immoral action of Captain Hook to take revenge on the person who cut off his hand?

Now, scroll down to discover our list of 12 times Disney villains actually have a reasonable point for their actions. We bet that they will make you rethink hating on these guys!

Although Mr. Waternoose‘s solution is a bit extreme, his aim is just to keep the monsters safe from humans and make sure there is enough energy for this monster world.

#3 Maleficent just wants to be invited to the King and Queen’s baby shower.

No one wants to be left out at the biggest party in the country, especially when everyone you know is going to be there. After thinking carefully, we can somewhat understand Maleficent when she decided to curse Princess Aurora.

#4 Sid is a kid with anger issues and needs therapy.

The way Sid treats the toys is totally sadistic and unacceptable. However, we should know that Sid is just a child who has a mental illness and he doesn’t deserve to be treated like what happened in the movie.

#5 Edgar Balthazar opposes his wealthy master leaving his entire fortune to a group of cats.

Edgar Balthazar has worked for his boss for many years with his pure devotion. However, that man is willing to leave his inheritance to a group of cats and completely forget about him. Therefore, it is understandable why Edgar Balthazar opposes such a decision.

#6 Syndrome just wanted to help his hero but was told that he was not good enough.

Buddy was an enthusiastic kid who just wanted to follow and help his idol. However, the boy was cruelly told by his superhero that he lacked superpowers. If it were you, could you not be disappointed and angry?

#7 Captain Hook lost his hand to Peter Pan.

Previously, Captain Hook was still a nimble pirate with both hands intact. However, during a battle with Peter Pan, his hand was cut off by Peter’s sword. With someone who makes you disabled, of course, you’ll be furious and want to fight against them, right?

#8 Hades has a terrible time in the underworld while the other gods have fun on Mount Olympus.

While Hades has a terrible job that he hadn’t asked for, his brother Zeus lives happily with his beautiful wife Hera and rules Mount Olympus. That’s why he’s mad and wants to turn the tables, and there’s nothing wrong with it.

#9 Yzma doesn’t want a young and selfish teenager to rule the kingdom.

Kuzco‘s virtues are unfit to be a king: he is selfish, garish, and holds little regard for his citizens. Therefore, that Yzma tries to take the throne from him and get him off the seat of power is not really a bad idea, don’t you think?

#10 Shere Khan does not want a child living alone in the green forest.

From an ordinary person’s point of view, surely no one would want a child to spend his life in a jungle filled with dangerous creatures that could threaten his life at any moment. Therefore, it’s safe to say that getting Mowgli out of the jungle is really a wise decision of Shere Khan.

#11 Captain Gantu just wants to return the galactically-banished alien Stitch back to his own planet.

12 Times Disney Villains Have A Reasonable Point For Their ActionsSource: Walt Disney Animation Studios

Captain Gantu can look fierce and not very friendly, but have you noticed that he hasn’t actually done anything cruel and exceeded his duty? The poor critter just wants to bring Stitch back to his planet and end the chaos that Stitch makes when he is stranded on Earth.

#12 Chef Skinner doesn’t want a chef with no experience running a restaurant and a rat roaming in a kitchen.

12 Times Disney Villains Have A Reasonable Point For Their ActionsSource: Walt Disney Animation Studios

While many of Chef Skinner‘s actions are wrong and should be criticized, it makes sense for him to contact the health inspector. No one wants to eat and drink at a restaurant where rats roam in the kitchen, right? Also, Linguini isn’t really a talented chef to run a restaurant himself, no matter how kind and nice he is.
