Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently addressed the buzz around fan tours at The Star, the team’s state-of-the-art headquarters.
In a candid moment with reporters, Prescott shared his perspective, emphasizing that these tours should be seen as a positive part of the organization rather than a distraction.
“For one, this is all I know. I’m not going to let a couple of people touring the building distract me. I’m present where I am,” Prescott stated.
Having practiced at the Cowboys’ previous facility in Valley Ranch—where fan tours didn’t exist—Prescott compared the tours to the presence of reporters in the locker room, suggesting that both require a professional approach. “What’s the difference in (reporters) coming in the locker room and talking?” he asked.
The veteran quarterback stressed the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. “You can walk by and have a negative mindset about it and allow it to ruin your day, or you can be thankful that you’re in an organization that people want to see,” he explained.
While acknowledging that the frequency of fan tours at The Star may be higher than at other teams, Prescott believes it’s essential to embrace the environment. “You got to embrace it. Honestly,” he said.
When asked if fan tours affect the team’s performance on the field, Prescott was clear: “I don’t think so. If that’s the case, then the crowd is a distraction when you get out there. It’s the NFL. It’s a business, and those exact reasons make this game entertaining.”
He added that distractions can happen anywhere, stating, “If you’re distracted by that, then you’re distracted by the fans in any arena you get into.”
Prescott’s views reflect the Cowboys’ strategy to engage with their fanbase. The team has made The Star a popular destination, offering fans unique experiences and attractions. As the Cowboys continue their season, it remains to be seen how these fan interactions will shape the team’s dynamics on and off the field.
