CeeDee Lamb entered this season with high expectations but has yet to deliver the production Cowboys fans are used to seeing. The slow start followed a lengthy contract standoff between Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys, ultimately resolved just before Week 1. The impact of the holdout may be showing, as Lamb has acknowledged that he and quarterback Dak Prescott aren’t yet in sync.
Lamb recently opened up about his season so far, addressing Hall of Famer Troy Aikman’s comments. Aikman called on the Cowboys’ receiving corps to step up, specifically saying Lamb needed to improve his route-running. Lamb, however, took the criticism in stride. Speaking with former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, he said he appreciated Aikman’s comments, seeing them as a push to improve.

When Garrett asked if his absence from training camp affected his chemistry with Prescott, Lamb didn’t shy away. “Absolutely,” Lamb responded. The 24-year-old wideout, who signed a four-year, $136 million contract just days before the season opener, had been the focus of a drawn-out contract holdout that some believe could have been resolved sooner.
Team owner Jerry Jones downplayed the impact of Lamb missing camp, suggesting it wasn’t an issue since Lamb wouldn’t have played in preseason games. But it’s not the games, but rather the chemistry built in training camp, that players rely on. Missing that time together has meant both Lamb and Prescott are knocking off the rust in real games, something that’s been evident early on.
Despite the rocky start, both Lamb and Prescott are determined to find their rhythm. With a promising outlook, the two aim to work past these initial challenges and get Dallas back on track as the season continues.
