For Rosa Gonzales and her daughters, this Thanksgiving will be unforgettable. After losing her husband, Julian Garcia, last year, the family has faced challenges, but a surprise from Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb has brought them unexpected joy.
Julian, a devoted Cowboys fan and passionate cook, passed away due to illness, leaving Rosa to shoulder the family’s responsibilities. However, with help from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas, Rosa and her daughters found themselves at the center of a heartwarming gesture.
In collaboration with Tom Thumb and the Boys and Girls Club, Lamb surprised the family with a pre-Thanksgiving shopping spree. “I’ve been one of those families, less fortunate and unable to get everything we wanted. So, for me, it’s about making that dream come true for them,” Lamb shared.
The family and Lamb filled their cart with essentials and holiday treats, ensuring they wouldn’t have to worry about groceries for months. “We got a lot of stuff, and I like everything he picked,” said Roselyn, Rosa’s youngest daughter.
Adding to the moment, Tom Thumb presented the Boys and Girls Club with a $25,000 grant to support its activities and aid more families. “This allows families to enjoy holidays without worrying about basic needs,” said Karen Tan, Boys and Girls Club President.
For Lamb, the act of giving was as fulfilling as scoring touchdowns. “I want to be that difference maker for them,” he said.
The impact was deeply felt by Rosa and her daughters. “I didn’t think this would happen, but I’m so grateful,” said Krystel, Rosa’s eldest.
As Rosa reflected on the day, she knew her late husband would have cherished the moment. “I look at his face, and he’s very happy, like he’s alive,” she said. This Thanksgiving, the spirit of giving and the memory of Julian made it truly special.
