The Dallas Cowboys’ nightmare season took another hit as backup quarterback Trey Lance found himself in hot water with the NFL following a questionable play in Week 10.
As if the Cowboys’ 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles wasn’t bad enough, Lance was fined over $22,000 for using his helmet to force Eagles safety Reed Blankenship out of bounds during a fumble recovery. The incident occurred when Jake Ferguson lost the ball after a catch, leading to Blankenship’s return attempt.
Lance, the last line of defense, stopped Blankenship’s momentum but crossed the league’s line by leading with his helmet — a move the NFL does not tolerate.

Cowboys starter Cooper Rush struggled mightily, throwing for just 45 yards on 23 attempts. Lance came in late to close the game, showing flashes of aggression but also throwing an interception. Despite his effort to inject some energy into the offense, Lance remains QB2, with Rush set to start Week 11 against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
For a team in the midst of a downward spiral, including four consecutive losses and a dismal home record, this incident further underscores the frustration surrounding Dallas this season. Fans will be hoping for any sign of life as the Cowboys attempt to turn their season around.
