In a poignant moment following the Dallas Cowboys’ tough game against the Detroit Lions, quarterback Dak Prescott shared a heartfelt message with Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a severe leg injury during the matchup at AT&T Stadium.
The injury occurred in the third quarter of the Lions’ commanding 47-9 victory over the Cowboys. Hutchinson was quickly carted off the field and later underwent surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula. His return this season remains uncertain.
After the game, Prescott expressed his empathy and support for Hutchinson, drawing from his own experience with injury. “Obviously, that’s tough to watch,” Prescott said, reflecting on the situation. “I hated it. Hated every bit of it. But for me, I just told him to keep his head up. It’s part of the story.”
He continued, “I promise, the way that this guy started his career… he’ll be better after it. I know it’s probably hard to imagine right now. It’s part of his story. Game changer, wishing him the best in his recovery. I know it’s going to be a mental challenge as much as it is physical, but I imagine he’ll be just fine and recover from it.”
Despite the loss, Hutchinson had an impressive performance before his injury, recording one sack, three quarterback hits, and a tackle for a loss. The Lions improved to 5-1 and will look to secure sole possession of first place in the NFC North when they face the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings next Sunday.

Prescott, on the other hand, had a challenging outing in what many consider one of the most humiliating losses in Cowboys history. He completed only 17 of 33 pass attempts for 178 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions.
Now sitting at 3-3, the Cowboys are heading into a much-needed bye week. They will regroup before facing the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in a highly anticipated “Sunday Night Football” matchup.
