The Dallas Cowboys faced a harsh reality during their Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions, suffering a staggering 47-9 defeat at home. This loss marks the Cowboys’ worst home performance in 35 years, breaking a streak of dominance they enjoyed at AT&T Stadium just a season ago.
Previously, the Cowboys had racked up 16 consecutive home victories from 2022 to 2023, a feat only surpassed by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots since the year 2000. However, after an embarrassing defeat in the Wild Card Round last season against the Green Bay Packers, the team has spiraled into a four-game home losing streak, trailing by at least 22 points in each match.
According to NFL records, the Cowboys are now the first team this century to fall behind by 14 points in four straight home games. This statistic is especially glaring considering how many poor-performing teams have come and gone since the 2000 season.
During this stretch, the Cowboys’ defense has allowed an alarming 167 points, ranking as the third-most in a four-game span in NFL history.
From ESPN Research: The Cowboys have allowed 167 points in their last 4 home games, including regular season and playoffs. That is the 3rd-most over a 4-game span at home in NFL history.

In addition to these struggles, the Cowboys have led for just 2 minutes and 15 seconds in their home games this season. Their journey began in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, where they never took the lead, ultimately losing 44-19. A similar story unfolded in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, where they again fell behind early, losing 28-25.
In Sunday’s game, the Cowboys briefly led 3-0 after a 34-yard field goal by Brandon Aubrey, but that advantage quickly vanished as the Lions scored a touchdown just minutes later. The Lions then added 20 unanswered points, sealing a humiliating defeat for Dallas.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys will enter their bye week at 3-3. After the break, they face a challenging schedule, starting with road games against the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons, before returning home to host the rival Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.
The Cowboys are left searching for answers as they look to regain their footing and turn the season around.
