With Brandin Cooks sidelined for at least the next four weeks, the Dallas Cowboys are exploring options to reinforce their receiving corps and provide some much-needed help alongside star receiver CeeDee Lamb. At 3-2, the Cowboys have faced early struggles in both running the ball and stopping the run, leaving quarterback Dak Prescott and Lamb to shoulder much of the offensive burden.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently floated a potential solution, suggesting that Dallas could make a trade for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins ahead of the NFL’s November 5 trade deadline. Higgins, a proven playmaker, could serve as a strong complement to Lamb in the Cowboys’ passing game.
“Higgins is a high-end No. 2 receiver who should draw a fair return, even in a market that could be flooded with receiver talent,” Knox wrote. “Dallas may have salvaged its season with a much-needed win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, and it could use a strong complement to CeeDee Lamb on the perimeter. Brandin Cooks was recently placed on injured reserve following a knee procedure.”
Higgins requested a trade out of Cincinnati during the offseason after contract extension talks between him and the Bengals broke down. Although Cincinnati placed the franchise tag on Higgins, keeping him on the roster with a $22 million salary for 2024, the possibility of moving the talented wideout remains.
In his first four seasons in the NFL, Higgins has registered two 1,000-yard receiving campaigns and has racked up 275 receptions, 3,866 receiving yards, and 26 touchdowns. Adding him to the Cowboys’ offense could provide the firepower Dallas needs to remain competitive in the NFC.
As the November trade deadline approaches, the Cowboys will need to evaluate their options carefully. While Prescott and Lamb have proven their value—especially after signing a combined $376 million in contract extensions—Dallas could benefit from another elite target to help turn the tide of their season.
