Ezekiel Elliott’s return to Dallas hasn’t gone as planned, and things reached a new low this week. Just two days before the Cowboys’ crucial Week 9 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, reports emerged that the three-time Pro Bowl running back was sidelined due to disciplinary reasons.
Veteran Cowboys beat reporter Clarence Hill Jr. confirmed that Elliott would not travel with the team to Atlanta. Attempts by Fox News Digital to reach Elliott’s representatives for comment were unsuccessful.
Elliott rejoined Dallas on a one-year deal in April and has appeared in all seven games this season, though his production has been minimal, totaling 149 rushing yards. He recently reached a career milestone with his 70th touchdown, ranking him third in franchise history. However, his opportunities have dwindled, and his return hasn’t produced the impact many fans had hoped.
With Elliott sidelined, the Cowboys elevated Dalvin Cook from the practice squad. The team’s run game has struggled all season, averaging a league-low 74.1 rushing yards per game, and has yet to see a 100-yard rusher in 21 games.
