Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a birthday celebration he’d rather forget on Sunday, as his team suffered a crushing 47-9 loss at home to the Detroit Lions. The defeat has left Jones visibly upset, and he seems far from calming down. While he’s not ready to blame head coach Mike McCarthy for the team’s 3-3 record, Jones is equally unwilling to accept blame himself.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones got frustrated with the questions from the hosts about why the Cowboys didn’t make more moves in the offseason. He cut them off, saying it wasn’t their job to question him. “I’ll get someone else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding. You’re not going to figure out what the team is doing right or wrong,” he said.
Jerry Jones got extremely defensive on Tuesday morning in his appearance on @1053thefan and refused to address/acknowledge questions about the Dallas Cowboys’ lack of spending and general roster building over the offseason.

Jones went on to say, “If you think you can sit here with a microphone and tell me what I’ve done wrong without recognizing what I’ve done right, you’re mistaken. You should come to the NFL meeting I’m going to today with all 32 teams.”
While Jones is right that he has made good decisions in the draft, it’s hard to overlook his struggles with contracts and bringing in key free agents.
Where Jones is wrong is in thinking that only NFL insiders can see the team’s problems. It’s clear to fans and experts that the Cowboys’ roster lacks depth on defense, can’t stop the run, and has been ineffective in the running game. These issues were obvious last season, and many people have urged Jones to fix them, but he hasn’t listened.
As the Cowboys search for answers, it’s clear that taking responsibility will be key to turning the season around.
