The Dallas Cowboys are set to get a major boost on their defensive line with the return of Jordan Phillips from injured reserve. After weeks of recovering from a wrist injury, Phillips is back at practice, opening a three-week window before he’s fully reactivated to the roster.
Phillips, 31, has had a whirlwind NFL career since being drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2015 draft. After his time with the Dolphins, he was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills, where he showed his potential over three seasons. His standout performances earned him a three-year, $30 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
Following two seasons in Arizona, Phillips returned to Buffalo and later signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants. In 2024, he was traded to the Cowboys in a preseason deal for a conditional draft pick.
Last season, Phillips appeared in 14 games for the Bills, recording 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and five pass defenses. This year, he’s already played two games for the Cowboys, adding one tackle to his stat sheet before his injury.
Now, as Phillips nears his return, Cowboys fans are eager to see how his experience and skill will strengthen the team’s defensive front. With the season entering a critical phase, Phillips’ return comes at a pivotal time for Dallas as they look to improve their defensive performance and push for a playoff run.
