Taron Egerton, who previously featured in Kingsman, affirms that he has spoken with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to discuss joining the MCU, possibly to play the refreshed Wolverine. Marvel Studios now owns the film rights to every X-Men and Fantastic Four character due to Disney‘s purchase of 20th Century a couple of years ago. Since Patrick Stewart already appeared as Charles Xavier/Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which also starred John Krasinski as Mister Fantastic, viewers have already begun to notice some of these familiar faces in the MCU.
With Ryan Reynolds in progress on Deadpool 3 and plans for a Fantastic Four film in the works, the MCU will continue to introduce fresh iterations of well-known characters. Wolverine‘s upcoming reinvention, though, will be among the most difficult. Hugh Jackman became a superhero movie figure during his nearly two-decade tenure as Wolverine. Due to this, Marvel Studios is in a difficult position where they must come up with a unique approach to recreate Weapon X in the MCU. Furthermore, it places a lot of pressure on the one who would perform the scene with the adamantium claws.
Fans have been left wondering who would play the venerable superhero next as a result of Marvel needing a new Wolverine portrayal. They have a wide range of common choices, including Daniel Radcliffe, Antony Starr, and Egerton. Egerton recently acknowledged having a meeting with Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios to discuss entering the shared universe. Even the potential that those discussions might have been regarding Wolverine was mentioned by the Kingsman movie star. “I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” Egerton admitted while chuckling. “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.” After pausing, he grinned. “But hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”
Wolverine will not appear in any planned Phase 4 MCU films or TV episodes, according to Marvel Studios. It is commonly believed that he will be introduced sooner rather than later. According to some reports, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness originally planned to introduce the MCU‘s Wolverine. If that were the case, it’s possible that Egerton’s discussions with Marvel Studios were related to that possibility.
Egerton hasn’t been especially coy about his desire to portray Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s done Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine posture in images he’s formerly uploaded, so his smile in this interview might reveal something. Egerton has several excellent attributes to portray Weapon X in the MCU because of his rising celebrity and action film experience (as well as his shorter 5’9 height). Given that he has acknowledged discussions with Marvel Studios, he may really have the inside track to pick up the role as well. The only thing left to do is wait and see if those discussions led to Egerton being cast as Wolverine in the MCU.
