Tom Hiddleston’s comeback as the God of Mischief is first seen in Loki season 2 fresh set images, and he looks rather stylish donning a tuxedo. After years of dominating among MCU‘s star characters, the God of Mischief gets his own series, airing since 2021 on Disney+. In 2023, Loki is expected to return for its sophomore season. Works on Loki season 2 have started, even though Marvel Studios hasn’t given it a set release date yet.
Hiddleston has been a part of the MCU from its inception, but it wasn’t until Phase 4 that he received the attention that he deserves. The Loki show followed the God of Mischief as he struggled to come to terms with who he really was. He encountered other versions of himself throughout the story, including a female form named Sylvie (Sophia di Martino). Their entire journey culminated in a confrontation with He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), a variant of Kang the Conqueror and who formed the TVA. The multiverse has collapsed by the end of Loki season 1, with multiple worlds colliding with one another. In the meantime, Kang sends the God of Mischief to a whole new timeline.
Shooting for Loki’s upcoming episodes has started, and Hiddleston can be seen returning to his role in a fresh bundle of season 2 set photos (via @BRMarvelNews). But this time, he’s dressed formally in a tuxedo rather than his customary Loki garb. Look at the pictures below:
Images of the show’s shooting place circulated in social media before the appearance of the mentioned bundle of Loki season 2 set images containing Hiddleston. Those images mention the obscure Marvel Comics antagonist Zaniac. It’s unclear whether these images are connected in any way. Although it’s still difficult to see what is actually going on in this Loki season 2 image, the location is an intriguing one given that so much of season 1 was filmed in novel, fantastical settings. FWIW, it’s likely that whatever the crew are shooting won’t eventually be included in the series. Maybe this Loki isn’t even the version from the Sacred Timeline, but a different version. Variants may look similar to or different from one another, as introduced in the MCU.

It’s exciting to see Hiddleston back on set as the God of Mischief, despite the unclear background. A huge cliffhanger that had major ramifications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) closed Loki season 1. Many believe that season 2 will provide some much-needed clarification on the multiverse’s functioning in the franchise because of the lengthy hiatus between seasons. Even if the show itself won’t come back until the following year, perhaps further set pictures, like the ones above, can provide some insight.
