Fred Hechinger has landed a role in Sony Pictures’ Kraven the Hunter, in which Aaron Taylor Johnson plays the title character. Reports believe Hechinger will portray Chameleon, Kraven’s brother, in the film, albeit this is unverified.

J.C. Chandor is producing the film, which is produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The script was written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, as well as Richard Wenk.

Kraven is one of Sony Pictures’ Marvel universe’s most renowned and legendary antiheroes, having battled Venom and Black Panther among others, as well as being one of Spider-most Man’s well-known and fearsome foes. The movie will hit theaters on January 13, 2023.

Chameleon, on the other hand, is Kraven’s half-brother and is generally presented as a master of disguises, recognized for his ability to imitate almost anyone.

He is currently shooting Scott Cooper’s The Pale Blue Eye, featuring Christian Bale, and featured in the Hulu miniseries, Pam & Tommy. He’ll also be featured in Gabe Polsky’s forthcoming film Butchers Crossing, which stars Nicolas Cage and is based on John Williams’ 1960 novel of the same name. But it is unclear if the contract is finalized, but sources claim Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in at least another Marvel movie, with the possibility of a sequel. The details of how he may return are still being figured out, but the possibilities are endless. Even after a character’s movie franchises have ended, Marvel has found ways to incorporate them into other domains in the MCU, and the inclusion of new Disney+ miniseries provides even more properties where he may make his comeback if it isn’t in his solo movie.

Whichever option is chosen; viewers will be energized by the prospect of seeing a figure they thought would never reappear.

Captain America, notably portrayed by Chris Evans, has become a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Captain America: The First Avenger aired in 2011. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a huge success for the MCU in 2021, doing more than predicted at the ticket sales and even outperforming both Black Widow and Eternals. The sequel to the martial-arts blockbuster movie is now in the process, with producer and filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton rejoining. The only issue is who will stand up to Shang-Chi this time – perhaps Jackie Chan?

In an interview with CinemaBlend, the filmmaker expressed his desire for Jackie Chan to feature in the sequel in whatever manner. It is too early to speculate on what role the martial arts icon would serve in the movie, but the creator would go to great lengths to ensure his appearance. “I mean, if we could ever get Jackie Chan into a movie, that would be a lifelong dream of mine,” Destin Daniel Cretton explained.

The hero of the martial-arts action genre requires no introduction, but his most recent flicks haven’t exactly been box office smashes. In reality, The Foreigner, released in 2017, and The Karate Kid, released in 2010, are two of Jackie Chan’s most well-known films from the recent decade. He hasn’t yet been in a superhero film, but the star still hasn’t ruled it out. His presence in the Shang-Chi sequel might well be just what the studio and fanbase are looking for.

What’s more, Destin Daniel Cretton previously paid homage to Jakie Chan in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Furthermore, the filmmaker said that his debut movie was highly influenced by kung-fu classics and “every Jackie Chan movie ever made,” including certain precise actions and stunts in the famed bus battle sequence.
