Teacher Gets Revenge On Toxic Colleague With Mustard-Filled Doughnut, You Won’t Believe His Reaction!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of outsmarting someone who’s been rude to you, especially when it involves a little food-based payback.

A high school teacher’s rivalry with a colleague turned personal after he purposely excluded her from a doughnut delivery, but what he didn’t count on was her response.

Instead of getting upset or taking it lying down, she decided to turn the tables. What started as a simple doughnut became a memorable lesson in humility, leaving a toxic colleague with a taste of his own medicine, and mustard.

The expression on his face was worth more than any promotion.

'How do you like that doughnut now?'

This happened about 20 years ago when I was a teacher in a small high school.

There was one teacher who was toxic and would say inappropriate things to students about the teachers he didn't like.

He once told some students of mine that I didn't get invited to parties because I was a "stiff."

His dislike for me stemmed from the fact that I was vying for promotion to vice-principal, and he felt threatened by it.

He did a bunch of other things that gave me a slam-dunk workplace harassment case against him, but I never pursued it.

One day, he brought in doughnuts and left them in the staff room.

However, being the guy he was, he put little toothpick flags in them with everyone's names on them, but mine.

He also left a note on the table saying, "Help Yourself. Not you". The one with his name on it was one of those powdered, jelly-filled things.

In full view of some of the other teachers who were gob-smacked by his behaviour, I took a straw, sucked all the jelly out of it, then refilled it with...

Then I put it back into the box, unwrapped my sandwich, and waited.

He came into the lunch room with a s__t-eating grin on his face as he looked at me and nodded. I munched my carrot sticks.

One of the women thanked him for the doughnuts. He just smirked, picked it up, and took a big bite of it right in front of me.

The look of horror, confusion, and disgust on his face was priceless.

The OP’s story is a vivid example of how workplace dynamics can devolve into toxic behavior, even among educators.

The colleague’s exclusionary act, deliberately omitting the OP’s name from the doughnut box and leaving a note saying, “Not you”, was a clear instance of workplace bullying. Such behavior not only undermines professional respect but also creates a hostile work environment.

According to the 2021 Workplace Bullying Institute (WBI) U.S. Workplace Bullying Survey, 30% of workers have directly experienced bullying, with 43.2% of remote workers reporting similar experiences Workplace Bullying Institute.

This statistic underscores the prevalence of toxic behavior in various work settings, including educational institutions.

Dr. Gary Namie, co-founder of the WBI, emphasizes the detrimental effects of workplace bullying, stating, “Workplace bullying is a significant public health issue that leads to stress, anxiety, depression, and even post-traumatic stress disorder.”

This aligns with the OP’s experience, where the colleague’s actions likely contributed to a stressful and demoralizing work environment.

While the OP’s response, refilling the jelly-filled doughnut with mustard, was a creative form of retaliation, it’s essential to address such issues through proper channels.

Engaging in open communication with the colleague, seeking mediation, or reporting the behavior to school administration are constructive steps. Resorting to pranks, while momentarily satisfying, may escalate tensions and perpetuate a cycle of negativity.

In conclusion, the OP’s experience highlights the importance of fostering a respectful and supportive workplace culture. Addressing toxic behavior promptly and professionally can lead to a healthier work environment for all employees.

Here’s the input from the Reddit crowd:

These commenters cheered the OP on for their ingenious jelly-to-mustard swap.

Marcellusk − I took a straw, sucked all the jelly out of it. That's some tremendous sucking ability you got there.

Audibledogfarts − When I read you sucked out the jelly (great by itself) and replaced it with mustard (genius), it made me say "Ohhhh" in my living room like I...

Ok-Cappy − This is a great example of petty revenge! I applaud it.

stuartmill1776 − That may be the best petty revenge story I’ve read so far- nice job (slow clap).

[Reddit User] − Good for you, he sounds like he sucks.

This group shared their own stories of instant karma and schadenfreude.

Wanderson90 − I have a satisfying story about doughnuts, too. Not really revenge, more like instant karma, but I'll share anyway.

I was a freshman in high school, and I was in the halls during class for whatever reason.

Anyway, this senior kid comes strolling in my general direction with a big box of doughnuts.

He lifts the lid and motions for me to grab one, but pulls the box away at the last second. A classic "ahah, got you" moment.

Well, unfortunately for him, he yanked them away from me a little too quickly, and the entire box of doughnuts slipped out of his hands and directly into a very...

There was no hope in salvaging even one poor doughnut. He scurried away in a huff, and I walked back to class with a huge grin on my face.

3789460947994 − I'm genuinely sorry you had to endure that sort of bullying. He sounds like an absolute cunt, and I'm glad you got him back

[Reddit User] − What's your favorite donut flavor? Obviously not mustard.

These users were curious about the reactions of other teachers.

[Reddit User] − Did you have to suck the mustard into your mouth to decanter it into the donut?

Fridayesmeralda − What reactions did the other teachers have?

These users took a more cynical view, reflecting on the failures of teachers to step in when needed.

PurplePoisonPlucker − In my experience, teachers are either the best or worst people you will ever meet.

They're either there to actually make a difference or there to relive their petty high school drama while making an "easy" check.

Absolutely ridiculous, and its honestly insane that people who are disciplining kids on a daily basis cant call this f__ker out for you.

[Reddit User] − This is why you’re the teacher and I’m the student. Any tips to get the taste of mustard out of my mouth?

This group rallied behind and celebrated the OP’s triumph and imagined how satisfying it would have been if other teachers had taken a stand.

AlexVanderhoof − I love this. One of the best stories I’ve read on this thread. S__ew that guy!

youreyesmystars − My biological father was a teacher at the high school I attended, and he was VERY abusive to me at home.

He behaved just like the teacher in your story, saying inappropriate things and talking badly about teachers behind their backs to other kids.

As time went on, he became less and less "popular" with the faculty, and I soon found myself with a lot of teachers who realized I hated him too, was...

Any support at all, no matter how small, was a huge relief back then. He made my life an absolute hell.

I wish another teacher had done something like this to him; it would have been amazing! Good job, OP!

Eatmyshorts231214 − Hahahahaha super clever! F__k that guy.

There’s something deeply satisfying about a clever form of revenge when someone tries to degrade or exclude you, especially in a workplace where power dynamics can often be toxic.

Do you think the OP’s sweet (or should I say sour?) revenge was justified, or did they go too far with this prank? How would you handle a toxic coworker’s subtle jabs? Let us know what you think!
