Vaughn hinted at this reboot in October 2023, expressing his desire to revolutionize the superhero film genre once again, akin to what he achieved with the original “Kick-Ass.”
Vaughn explained, “We’re giving it another shot. None of the characters from the previous Kick-Ass movies will be in it, but we hope to bring them back later on.”
He added, “I can’t say much about it, but it’s going to be enjoyable!”
Currently, there are no cast members or release dates announced for the new trilogy. Fans will have to wait to see what Vaughn and Walters have in store for them.
Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass Reboot Promises to Be Absolutely Kick-Ass
Vaughn has also provided some insights into the highly anticipated Kick-Ass reboot, disclosing that they were already deep into the scripting phase.
“We’re halfway through it,” he revealed. “There’s a very, very, dare I say it… and pardon the cliché from my end. It’s a highly meta-universe. It’s essentially what Kick-Ass initially set out to achieve: reinventing and pioneering an R-rated superhero concept when no one else was.
“This takes that entire premise to an even more deserving level—more of an evolution than a sequel because I believe it’s an entirely new approach to Kick-Ass, which couldn’t be more true to its essence,” Vaughn elaborated via CBR.
As for “The Stuntman,” its release date is still unknown (2024 or 2025).
