Despite the Dallas Cowboys’ ongoing collapse this season, Micah Parsons refuses to back down from his faith in the team. In the latest episode of The Edge podcast, the defensive star made a daring declaration about the Cowboys’ potential, insisting they are better than their dismal 3-7 record suggests.
“I’m gonna put this out there—we’re a damn good football team,” Parsons said. “I know these scores ain’t showing it, and I know people feel like we’ve got so many missing pieces. … I think our defense has really turned things around. Up until that last quarter when they got that touchdown on defense, we only gave up those two touchdowns in that first quarter. Other than that, we gave up six points in the other two quarters.”
Fans Aren’t Convinced
Unsurprisingly, fans weren’t quick to buy into Parsons’ optimism, especially after Dallas extended its losing streak to six games with a lopsided loss to the Texans on Monday Night Football. Criticism poured in online, with many pointing out that a team with a 3-7 record and recurring struggles hardly qualifies as “damn good.”

“A damn good football team would not be 3-7,” one commenter noted bluntly. Another added, “He’s a damn good football player. The team… just doesn’t seem to have it this year.”
Others took aim at the broader context, with one critic asking, “Does he watch the game…?” and another harshly saying, “Any team in the NFL is good. But your [team is] the worst of all the good teams.”
A Season to Forget
While injuries—most notably Dak Prescott’s season-ending hamstring surgery—have contributed to the Cowboys’ woes, their struggles began long before Prescott’s departure in Week 9. The team’s inability to convert in critical moments and repeated lapses on both sides of the ball have left fans frustrated.
Parsons, however, remains steadfast, suggesting the defense has made strides and could be the foundation for future success. Yet, without tangible results on the field, his words feel hollow to fans who have watched the team spiral.
Turning Words into Wins
The Cowboys’ road to redemption won’t be easy. As they prepare to face the Commanders this Sunday, they’ll need more than just bold claims to salvage their season. For now, Parsons’ confidence is commendable—but it will take action, not just words, to win back the belief of Cowboys Nation.
