Summary:
- A Marvel fan created a concept trailer for Iron Man 4, with the adult version of Morgan Stark going back in time to save her father.
- The trailer consists of different moments from other MCU films, films that starred Katherine Langford, and AI-generated sequences of Iron Man.
- While Robert Downey Jr. himself is open to the idea of reprising the role, Marvel’s president Kevin Feige believes that Iron Man’s legacy in the MCU is best left untouched.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe faced its most tragic yet epic moment when Robert Downey Jr.‘s Iron Man sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame to save the entire universe. Since then, Marvel fans have felt the void left by Tony Stark‘s departure, sparking discussions and hopes for his return, despite the finale to his journey.
Therefore, many Marvel fans have joined their voice to ask for a Robert Downey Jr. return, though it seems a bit hard to do so with the current direction that the MCU is heading. While the actor himself admitted that he would be open to return, Marvel’s head Kevin Feige debunked the idea, stating that he didn’t want to ruin Stark’s heroic sacrifice.
However, there is at least one Marvel fan who doesn’t think the same. And this guy is also talented enough to make a whole concept trailer of Iron Man 4, where Tony Stark’s daughter, Morgan, goes back in time just like her father did, to save Tony from his inevitable end. Check out the trailer right here:
Morgan Stark was only four years old in Avengers: Endgame, but in a deleted scene by Marvel, an adult version of her is portrayed by Katherine Langford. This version of Morgan meets Tony in the afterlife after the latter passes away, and bids the character an emotional farewell.
Well, said Marvel fan relies heavily on this deleted scene, and creates an entire fan trailer with Langford as Morgan, collaborating with Mark Ruffalo‘s Professor Hulk to engineer her time-travel attempt, echoing her father’s own universe-saving journey. The result of her time-travel attempt is left unanswered, making fans wonder if Morgan managed to save her father, or learn the hard way that the timeline is something you should not mess with.
The trailer is a mixture of footage from MCU movies and other movie scenes that star Katherin Langford, alongside AI-generated sequences of both Tony Stark and Langford’s Morgan Stark. Some moments of the trailer even put adult Morgan Stark in the Ironheart armor, making her the rightful successor of the Iron Man mantle.
The sequences are seamlessly woven into a complete video that lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds, and it has pretty decent quality for a fanmade trailer. It currently has 1,9 million views on YouTube.
Despite the creative allure of such a plot, bringing Tony Stark back would complicate the narrative integrity of the MCU. Time travel is already an established and even overused concept in the MCU, and using the same method to bring back a fan-favorite character seems like the wrong thing to do.
Besides, any other time-travel attempts at the moment will create even more timelines, and the TVA wouldn’t simply let it slide. It will also undo the heroic sacrifice that Tony Stark has made in Avengers: Endgame, making his return feel less welcomed.
Of course, with Marvel planning to reboot the entire franchise after Avengers: Secret Wars, there’s still a good chance that Robert Downey Jr. can return to the MCU as the iconic character. However, for now, an Iron Man 4 movie is unlikely, and it’s best to treat these concept trailers as a vivid reminder of the enduring impact of Tony Stark in the MCU instead.
