When you’re a celebrity, it’s almost a given that you have some form of social media presence. It’s an essential tool for them to use not only to connect with their fans but also to promote their work.
When a celebrity posts a photo of their private life on social media, it often receives a flood of likes and comments. Consider Cristiano Ronaldo! In 2021, he received 32.7 million likes on a photo he posted with his wife, Georgina.
However, the digital world, with its likes and comments, does not appeal to all celebrities. In fact, some prefer to avoid it. We believe these A-list celebrities are happy with their decision, whether they chose to take a break from the toxicity or say goodbye to their platforms forever.
We’ve compiled a list of 10 celebrities who have chosen to give up social media; let’s check them out!
#1 Chris Pine

It’s not surprising that this actor avoids social media, given that he admitted in Wonder Woman interviews that he uses an old flip phone rather than a smartphone. He said at the time that he preferred to simplify things and disliked anything complicated or overly connected. Pine did admit to purchasing a modern cell phone recently. He does not, however, rule out a return to analog technology.

Eddie claims he avoids social media and even does not own a computer. Furthermore, he does not want to share details about his personal life on social media. Someone even created a Twitter profile in his name once, and he only found out about it when his daughter texted him about it, along with another similar account they had created on Instagram.
#3 Harrison Ford

Obsessing over the number of “likes” or followers one may have on the Internet is disastrous, according to the memorable Indiana Jones interpreter. Furthermore, this veteran isn’t afraid to admit that he’s never taken a selfie, so we won’t see him posting photos to social media. Harrison aspires to avoid a culture of “self-obsession.”
#4 Jay-Z

Even though his wife, Beyoncé, is a social media pro, the rapper prefers to avoid it. However, in 2021, he made a brief appearance on Instagram, and his new account gained over one million followers in a matter of hours. The account vanished like the wind a day later. Its sole purpose was to promote a film, and once that was accomplished, he said goodbye to likes and shares.

In 2021, the Suicide Squad star shut down her accounts with a brief message saying goodbye to her followers with no further explanation. However, in the past, she had hinted at her preference for a more reserved public profile, citing Cate Blanchett as one of the celebrities she admired for managing to keep her personal life private.
#6 Matt Damon

Even though Matt Damon doesn’t have any public social media profiles, that doesn’t mean he is entirely unaware of them. The actor stated in an interview that he only interacts with his close friends on his private Instagram account, adding, “I never saw the point. My life is so full, and I’m really connected to who I need to be connected to.”
#7 Miles Teller

Miles Teller does not have an Instagram or TikTok account because, as he puts it, he likes to build his fandom through his movies. He is best known for his roles in Whiplash and Top Gun: Maverick. His dance moves are still going viral on both platforms because his wife, Keleigh Teller, posts fun choreographies and memorable moments with her husband on both.
#8 Pamela Anderson

After a sober “This will be my last post on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook,” Pamela Anderson said goodbye to social media in 2021. She also told her fans that she was more motivated by reading and nature.
In 2022, she used Instagram to promote the release of a documentary about her life on Netflix. It included a handwritten message that concluded, “I am alive to tell the true story.”
#9 Tina Fey

Tina’s digital absence is due to a lack of time. Shy claimed in an interview that she does not have an Instagram profile because “there are not enough hours in the day for that” and that when she isn’t working, she likes to spend time with her children.
#10 Tom Holland

This young star was once an active Instagram user, using the platform to keep his fans updated on his personal and professional life. He then used the same network to inform his fans that he would avoid reading what was being said about him to care for his mental health. Even though his profiles are still active, Tom refuses to sst any content there.
