Bridget Jones‘s Diary, inspired by Jane Austen’s famous novel Pride and Prejudice, was directed by Sharon Maguire in 2001. The story revolved around Bridget Jones and her triangle love. In her 30s, Jones was determined to change her life by quitting cigarettes and alcohol, losing weight, and finding true love. Her transformation led to a surprising result when her attractive boss Daniel and her boring childhood friend, Mark, fight for her love.

An on-screen couple of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is familiar to many film fans. In Nora Ephron’s You’ve Got Mail in 1998, they also appeared as Kathleen and Joe, a lovely pair keeping an online relationship without knowing anything about each other’s identity. It might not be a severe problem unless they were business rivals and detested each other in real life.

#3 Love Actually

Though released in 2003, Love Actually’s number of fans has never stopped rising after every holiday season. The classic was written and directed by Richard Curtis and involved a star-stubbed cast, including Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney, and Rowan Atkinson. The movie told ten different stories, with the characters connecting with one another. The production became a box office hit as it successfully illustrated various aspects of love that many of us overlooked from time to time.

The main character, Kate, was struggling with her life and tired of being an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. However, this boring job gave her a chance to meet Tom, a young man who helped her become more positive and look at the bright side of life.
