Summary:

  • Star Wars: Skeleton Crew set for Disney+ premiere at Christmas.
  • Children’s journey through the galaxy; details under wraps.
  • Impressive creative team; potential cameos; poised for holiday viewing.

During a recent interview at CCXP, director Jon Watts revealed a delightful surprise: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to premiere on Disney+ around Christmas!

This news comes amidst a busy year for Star Wars on the small screen, with “The Bad Batch” concluding its run and The Acolyte gearing up for its June 4th debut. While the big screen may be quiet following The Rise of Skywalker, the Force remains strong in the world of television.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Blasts Off This Christmas!

“Skeleton Crew” follows the story of four children who stumble upon a shocking discovery on their home planet. This revelation sets them on a perilous journey through the vast and unfamiliar reaches of the galaxy. Details about the plot are still shrouded in secrecy, and a trailer has yet to debut. However, star Kerry Condon recently showered praise on the show’s young cast, calling them “out of this world.

Beyond the child actors, Skeleton Crew boasts an impressive creative team. The directors’ roster includes Jon Watts (director of the MCU Spider-Man trilogy), The Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once), David Lowery, and Jake Schreier.

Writer and creator Christopher Ford, who previously collaborated with Watts on Spider-Man: Homecoming, steers the narrative alongside Myung Joh Wesner (Death and Other Details). Executive producers include heavyweights like Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy.

While details are scarce, Skeleton Crew has been described as more than just a children’s show. Intriguingly, Jude Law, known for his role in Captain Marvel, has hinted at the complexity of his character, calling him “contradictory” and expressing his desire to be the “Han Solo of Skeleton Crew.

The series takes place in 9 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin), aligning roughly with the timeline of The Mandalorian. Whether characters like Pedro Pascal‘s Din Djarin or Grogu will make an appearance remains to be seen, but with Favreau and Filoni involved, anything is possible.

Other potential cameos could include established characters like Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano or Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett. However, Skeleton Crew may also choose to focus on its own unique cast of characters.

For more insights into Skeleton Crew, keep your eyes peeled for Jon Watts’ participation in Collider’s Directors on Directing panel at CCXP. One thing is certain: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is poised to be a delightful addition to your holiday viewing this December!
