Summary:
Marvel star Chris Hemsworth recently shared some exciting news about Thor 5 while attending San Diego Comic-Con. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Hemsworth expressed his enthusiasm for stepping back into the role of the Asgardian Avenger, a character he’s embodied since 2011. However, he’s currently in a holding pattern, waiting for the official green light.
“Oh! Hey, mate, I have loved every second of working in the Marvel Universe and if there’s more to come then I’m excited about it. Nothing official yet.
I’m sort of waiting for the phone call and, and waiting for the news to see, let’s see what happens. But, you know, I love it.”
In a chat with ExtraTV at SDCC, Hemsworth echoed his love for the MCU experience.
“I have loved every second of the Marvel experience, and I’m always down to do more, but we’re all sort of waiting to hear what’s happening.”
As fans and Hemsworth eagerly await updates on Thor 5, there’s plenty of speculation about the film’s direction. One thing seems likely: a shift away from the comedic tone of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Hemsworth has openly admitted his disappointment with the film, feeling that he got “caught up in the improv and the wackiness” and turned into a parody of himself.
Will Thor 5 Explore a Darker and More Serious Tone?
Reflecting on his portrayal of Thor, Hemsworth has expressed a desire for a new direction. Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused team, he emphasized that Thor 5 would need to evolve to keep both himself and the audience engaged.
“I mean you look at Thor 1 and 2 they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love & Thunder: similar. I think it’s just about re-inventing it.
And I’ve had such a unique opportunity even with [Avengers] Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character; I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes, it keeps me on my toes, keeps me invested.
And I’ve said this before: when it becomes too familiar, I think there’s a risk of getting lazy I think, like ‘Ah, I know what I’m doing,’ you know? So I don’t know – again, I don’t even know if I’m invited back.
But if I was, I think it’d have to be a drastically different version – tone, everything. Just for my own sanity [laughs].”

On another note, Hemsworth’s next big role will be in the Transformers franchise, where he’ll voice Optimus Prime in the upcoming animated film Transformers One.
Directed by Josh Cooley, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Hamm, and Steve Buscemi. Transformers One will delve into the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
“TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.
In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi with Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.”
