It seems you’ll need to be immortal to finally see Marvel Studios’ Blade, as the long-awaited reboot has been removed from the release schedule.
Since its exciting announcement at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con, Blade has faced numerous hurdles. The project lost its first director, Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli), in 2022, followed by Yann Demange (White Boy Rick), leaving the film without a director once again. These setbacks, combined with the global pandemic, writers’ strikes, and multiple release date changes, have led to the Mahershala Ali-led film being delayed indefinitely.
The endless delays have been so prolonged that the original Daywalker, Wesley Snipes—who starred in the Blade trilogy from 1998 to 2004—could have had time to reprise his role before the reboot.
Blade’s original November 7, 2025, release date has reportedly been claimed by another project. Marvel isn’t just removing films from the schedule, though; the studio has also announced new MCU projects slated for release on February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028.
