There are countless stars and public figures whom we wish were still with us. But sadly, many of our most brilliant and talented celebrities follow a similar pattern, they shine incredibly bright before departing way too soon. Over the decades, we’ve lost tons of famous people, from Buddy Holly to Heath Ledger. And, we can’t help but wonder: what they would look like today? Where would they be? Would they still be super famous?

Famous for playing comedic “blonde bombshell” characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s. Long after her death, Monroe remains a major icon of pop culture. She was ranked one of the greatest female screen legends from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

She was the first wife of King Charles III (then Prince of Wales). Her activism and glamour made her an international icon and earned her enduring popularity. Diana’s death in a car crash in Paris in 1997 led to extensive public mourning and global media attention.
#3 Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin achieved worldwide fame from the television series The Crocodile Hunter (1996–2007), an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series. He and his wife Terri co-owned and operated Australia Zoo, founded by Irwin’s parents in Beerwah. In 2006, while filming a documentary in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Irwin died from an injury caused by a stingray. His death became international news and was met with expressions of shock and grief by everyone.
#4 Brittany Murphy

As a teenager, Brittany Murphy pursued a career in acting. In the 2000s, Murphy appeared in “Don’t Say a Word” (2001) alongside Michael Douglas, and Eminem in “8 Mile” (2002), for which she gained critical recognition. At age 32, she died under disputed circumstances. The coroner’s verdict was pneumonia, exacerbated by anemia and misuse of various prescription medicines.

Kobe Bryant is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. In his career, he received numerous awards. He ranks fourth in league’s all-time regular season and postseason scoring. He was posthumously voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.

Walker began his career as a child actor in the 1980s, gaining recognition in the 1990s after appearing in the television soap opera “The Young and the Restless”. The actor starred in the commercially successful road thriller Joy Ride (2001), becoming an action star. In 2013, Walker died of injuries sustained from a single-vehicle collision while speeding.

He was an Australian actor and music video director. For his portrayal of Ennis Del Mar in Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain, he received nominations for the BAFTA Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Golden Globe Award, and the Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the eighth-youngest nominee in the category at that time. He also produced and directed music videos and aspired to be a film director. He died in 2008 as a result of an accidental overdose of medications. A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight, with his performance earning him universal acclaim and popularity, receiving numerous posthumous awards.

Dubbed the “King of Rock and Roll”, he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. He worked in the music and acting field. Some of his most famous films included Jailhouse Rock (1957), Blue Hawaii (1961), Viva Las Vegas (1964), and so on. He is recognized as the best-selling solo music artist of all time by Guinness World Records, having sold over 500 million records worldwide.

He began his acting career at age 10 in television commercials. In his career, he starred in various movies such as “Explorers”, “Stand By Me”, “Running on Empty”, “My Own Private Idaho”, etc. Phoenix died at age 23 from combined drug intoxication in West Hollywood in the early hours of Halloween 1993, having overdosed on cocaine and heroin (a mixture commonly known as a speedball) at The Viper Room.

Considered one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career was marked by fusing elements of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, as well as his distinctive vocal and songwriting style. Marley’s contributions to music increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide and made him a global figure in popular culture to this day. In 1977, Marley was diagnosed with acral lentiginous melanoma; he died as a result of the illness in 1981, shortly after baptism into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
