The new film Alien: Romulus has received strong reviews, brightening the future of the franchise.
Director Fede Alvarez, however, has hinted at the possibility of working on a new Alien vs. Predator film.
Alvarez mentioned that such a project might involve collaborating with Dan Trachtenberg, who directed the popular Predator prequel Prey.
He noted that any decision to move forward would depend on Romulus’ success and fan interest.
“Maybe it’s something I have to co-direct with my buddy Dan [Trachtenberg],” Alvarez said.
“Maybe we should do like [Quentin] Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez did with [From] Dusk Till Dawn. I’ll direct a half, and he’ll direct another half.”
Alien: Romulus has already achieved the second-best opening for the franchise, earning $40 million, just behind Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
The film also boasts strong reviews, making it the third-best rated in the series, with an 81% critic score and an 86% audience score.
Previous Crossovers Included Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
Previously, Alien vs. Predator was released in 2004, inspired by a crossover comic book and featuring a battle between Aliens and Predators in a hidden pyramid.
The film, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, earned $177 million worldwide. In 2007, the sequel, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, directed by the Brothers Strause, continued the story with a new threat and earned just over $130 million.
Alien: Romulus is currently in theaters.
