Summary:
- After his recent tardiness controversy, another incident involving Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson went viral.
- This time, the WWE wrestler reportedly clashed with Ryan Reynolds when the two were filming together for Red Notice (2020).
- The two actors reconciled afterward, though other sources believed that the feud was greatly exaggerated.
Fresh off Dwayne Johnson’s recent controversy while filming Red One, an older dispute between the Moana actor and Ryan Reynolds has resurfaced. The two actors, who shared the screen in Netflix’s 2021 action-comedy Red Notice alongside Gal Gadot, reportedly clashed during the movie’s production.
Back in 2020, during the tight schedules and strict COVID protocols, tensions reached a boiling point between the two actors. According to The Wrap, Reynolds had enough after waiting around for Johnson for five hours, leading to a pretty intense confrontation.
Ryan Reynolds was so infuriated after waiting five hours for Johnson that they had a huge fight,” said The Wrap.
It got so heated that Johnson reportedly stormed off the set, and the two didn’t speak for years, only recently making up.
Despite the drama, a Red Notice sequel is still on the books, but no filming dates have been set. TMZ chimed in saying the feud wasn’t as dramatic as it sounded. They reported that Reynolds did indeed confront Johnson about his lateness, but it was more of a professional chat than a showdown. Johnson was back on set the next day, and sources say everything smoothed over quickly.
Page Six also downplayed the feud, quoting a source who said, “There was no stomping off set, no loud argument that’s not true.” They described the incident as “water under the bridge,” noting that the altercation came at a time when everyone was on edge due to the ongoing pandemic.
This isn’t the only time Johnson’s tardiness has caused issues. As we already reported, the Moana actor’s chronic lateness during the Red One shoot reportedly threw budgets and schedules into chaos. Insiders claimed he sometimes showed up eight hours late, causing the film’s budget to significantly increase, up to $50 million than the intended one.
“The only thing Dwayne was consistent at was being chronically late. It was a fcking disaster…Dwayne truly doesn’t give a fck,” an insider reported.
“It’s his absolute refusal to work more than a four or five-hour day,” another added, stating how Johnson didn’t want to work full days while filming.
The controversy reached its peak when DiscussingFilm claimed that Johnson urinated in a bottle “to save time”, upsetting everyone else in the filming scene. However, these accusations were immediately shut down by Amazon MGM Studios.
