Summary:
- Hugh Jackman chose to go commando during a nude scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past for authenticity.
- Given a bright green sock to cover up, it disappeared by the end of the first take, leaving him fully exposed.
Hugh Jackman isn’t shy about showing some skin, especially when he’s sculpted his body into peak Wolverine form for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
During an appearance on “Live with Kelly & Michael,” Jackman recounted one of his more revealing scenes. He shared, “It wasn’t written as a nude scene.”
Explaining the context, he said, “The scene has Wolverine traveling back in time to prevent something catastrophic from happening in the future. So I land back in 1973, wake up next to a girl I don’t remember, and get out of bed wearing boxer shorts.
However, Jackman felt that the original script didn’t quite capture what a scene like this would realistically entail.
He added, “I don’t know about America, but in Australia, if you’re next to a really good-looking girl, you’re not getting out of bed wearing boxer shorts or briefs, or anything!”
So, Jackman made an executive decision to add some authenticity to the moment. “So, yeah, I went commando, and we just went for it,” he said.
Curious about the logistics, co-host Michael Strahan asked how Jackman managed to cover up during filming.
Jackman explained, “There’s a sock. They brought a bright green sock for me to wear, and I was like, ‘This is kind of drawing more attention than less.’ But they insisted, ‘No, no, no, we need bright green like a green screen, so if you bend over, if you turn around, we need to erase it.'”
Despite the oddity of it all, Jackman complied. “By the end of the first take, I was like, ‘Yep, it’s gone, I don’t know where it is,'” he laughed. “So, yeah, commando.”
Adding to the humor, Kelly Ripa quipped about the sock, saying, “It was more of a leg warmer, wouldn’t you say?”
