Guy Slams Door Into Stranger’s Car, Mockingly Says ‘Hit Mine,’ Instantly Regrets It

Parking lot mishaps are common, but they rarely escalate as quickly as this one did. A shopper watched in disbelief as another driver carelessly slammed their car door into hers, leaving a visible mark. When confronted, the driver’s flippant response suggested she return the favor, dismissing the incident with a smirk before walking away.

Rather than let the rudeness slide, the shopper decided to take the driver’s words literally, ensuring the encounter wouldn’t be forgotten. Her bold reaction caught the attention of a nearby security guard, who seemed to anticipate the drama. Curious about how she turned the tables? Scroll down to uncover the satisfying way she responded to the challenge.

One driver, taunted after a rude guy dinged their car, kicked his door hard, leaving a massive dent

Not the actual photo

Just hit my car and we´re even, ok?

I went to the grocery store and after buying all my stuff. I went to the parking lot.

As I was getting close to my car, another one parked next to mine.

and opened the door wide open, hitting my car.

"Hey! You just hit my car", the a$$h01e just turned around and said "Just hit my car.

and we´re even, ok?" and walked away.

Luckily there was a security guard nearby.

and I ask him if he witnessed what the guy said.

The security guard just said "Yeap!" and turned away.

He knew what was coming. So I pretty much gather all my strength.

and kicked his door so hard with the bottom of my foot.

and left a huge dent across all his driver door.

Just got into my car and left.

I never had a citation, ticket or got contacted due to that.

The parking lot incident, where a driver dismissively suggested retaliating after damaging another’s car, highlights the issue of hit-and-run behavior and the risks of vigilante responses.

The shopper’s decision to kick the offender’s car door, leaving a dent, was a direct reaction to the provocation, but escalated a minor incident into potential legal trouble.

In the U.S., hitting a vehicle and leaving without providing contact information constitutes a hit-and-run.

According to American Legal Publishing in this municipality, the initial offense is classified as an unclassified misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $1,000, but the offender shall not be sentenced to a jail term

The other driver’s actions fit this definition, while the shopper’s retaliation also risked similar consequences, though no legal action followed.

A 2023 study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety indicated that hit-and-run incidents are common, with many drivers admitting to the behavior often because of the perceived low consequences.

The security guard’s inaction reflects a broader issue: bystander reluctance to intervene.

The American Psychological Association (APA) notes that diffusion of responsibility in public settings significantly reduces witness involvement, often resulting in the majority of bystanders failing to report minor crimes or incidents.

Legally, drivers must exchange insurance information after any collision causing damage, as outlined by the Insurance Information Institute. Failure to do so violates state laws, potentially leading to license suspension.

The shopper’s choice to retaliate, while emotionally satisfying, bypassed proper recourse like documenting the incident, notifying police, or filing an insurance claim.

A 2022 Consumer Reports guide advises taking photos, noting license plates, and contacting authorities to ensure accountability without personal risk.

For drivers facing similar situations, staying calm is key. Document the damage and offender’s details, then report to police or insurance within 24 hours, as most state laws require. If a witness, like the security guard, is present, request their statement.

Avoid physical retaliation, which can escalate to vandalism charges or civil liability. Retail parking lots often have cameras; requesting footage from store management can aid claims.

The shopper’s bold move made a point but risked legal and personal safety issues.

Legal channels, though slower, protect all parties and uphold accountability without encouraging tit-for-tat behavior.

Here’s the comments of Reddit users:

These Redditors cheered the driver’s bold dent, loving the instant justice

CatLady157 − That dummy forgot the old saying: "Be careful for what you wish / ask for. You might just get it."

Thank you for the laugh. I needed that today.

truecrimenancydrew − I love this so much.

Counteract92 − This is great! A friend of mine had a similar situation in a car park once.

He was sat in his car when a woman got into the car next to him and opened her door into his car.

Her car was quite new and he had a VW Golf that was older than him and beaten up.

So he just made eye contact with her and opened his door as hard as he could into hers!

Tit for tat, but she was horrified. Hopefully it taught her a lesson, but I doubt it.

These Redditors shared stories of denting cars to teach careless drivers lessons

night-otter − Back when Saturn cars first came out, one of the features they claimed

to have was body panels that could handle minor dings and bangs.

"Go ahead, kick the door. You can't dent it."

I'd seen other prospective customers do the regular toe kick and not do any damage.

So I turned around and donkey kicked with all my weight & strength behind it.

Yep, it dented, and the look on the saledroid's face was priceless.

He was speechless. Didn't know how to handle it.

Another saledroid came up. "I've got this."

Gives me a smile, slaps a suction cup on it, locked it down, and pulled.

The dent popped right out. Didn't buy one, but I was impressed.

GracieThunders − Sitting in a grocery store parking lot in my old junker with the engine running, getting ready to leave.

Brand new Pontiac Grand Am pulls into the spot next to me.

WHAM, opens the front door into the side of my car.

He's leaving both his doors open, touching my car, while he's fumbling around doing fuckall.

I'm getting pissed, least of all about the fact that he's making me wait on him to shut his doors so I can leave.

Nope. I just put it in Drive and started pulling forward out of the spot.

In doing so, tore that side molding off of his car.

givemeanameicanuse − Had an old lady bash my car with her door.

I yelled at her, she shrugged and walked off...

So I returned the favour, simultaneously finding out my car is built like a tank and hers is made of now very dented alfoil!

These commenters suggested keying or slamming doors for similar revenge

ProudMaOfaSlut − A guy did that to me. Huge Mercedes SUV.

I was sitting in my car with my toddler and he said to his kid, "That's what she gets for having a crappy car."

So I keyed the entire side of his SUV.

cdutson − Personally, I would have gotten into my car and then slammed my door out

as hard as I could to get that strong clean paint line.

These Redditors emphasized ethical responses or laughed at reckless retaliation

Intelligent-Cable666 − Get kiddo buckled up and go around to my door

when the wind whips the door out of my hand and slams the vehicle next to me.

This was no tiny scratch that could be buffed out.

This wasn't a small dent that wouldn't be noticeable.

This left a foot-long vertical gash.

I left my info and told the hotel staff. They said I shouldn’t have, that I should’ve just left.

But I wanted to do the right thing for my kid to see.

gratscot − A while ago myself and two of my friends were sitting in another friend's car waiting for him to come out from the store.

A truck pulled up, scraped our car with a cart, and acted smart about it.

By the time our buddy came out, we were loading cart #3 into the back of his truck.

Wish we would’ve stayed to see his face when he realized the bed of his truck had a pile of carts in it.

logoyahoo − Um. Whatever happened to exchanging insurance information?

This driver’s door-kicking comeback turned a rude taunt into a dented lesson, leaving the jerk stunned. Was their fierce kick a brilliant retaliation, or should they have reported the damage instead?

Did the rude driver’s attitude justify the dent, or was it an overstep? Share your thoughts below. Would you kick the door or take the high road in this parking lot drama?
