Pregnant Woman Finds Another Woman’s Scrub, Then Leaves Her Cheating Fiancé Behind

Finding out someone you love has betrayed you is painful at any stage of a relationship, but discovering it during one of the most vulnerable moments of your life can change everything.

For one new mother, the hardest part was not only the cheating itself but the way her fiancé tried to deny it and make her question her own instincts.

While pregnant and preparing for motherhood far from her childhood home, she found a small clue that something was wrong. Instead of receiving honesty, she faced excuses and arguments.

Months later, a major life decision forced her to decide whether to rebuild the relationship or return home with her baby.

Choosing herself and her child became the turning point that helped her start a new chapter.

Pregnant woman discovers her fiancé’s betrayal and chooses a new path for herself and her baby

'Cheated on while pregnant?'

So my ex fiancé (M26)cheated on me when I was about 6 months pregnant

(F27). I worked as a restaurant manager and took a week off from work to

fly out to Europe (that’s where I grew up) to see my family for the first time

since the pregnancy, before it was to late to fly.

When I got back home there was a facial scrub in my shower that didn’t

belong to me. I freaked out. I asked for answers: he lies. Complete denial,

thinks I’m an i__ot. He goes “I don’t know how that ended up here, maybe

it’s yours”. I was livid. Cried all day at work that day. Asked again at night

and he starts yelling at me about how I don’t trust him (don’t forget I’m

pregnant as f__k here and he’s putting this on me. Baffling)

I then try to let it go. I decided to stop thinking about it and focus on my

pregnancy. I know he cheated but he won’t admit it so I’m just wasting my

time trying to argue.

Fast forward to 1 month post partum. I get in a car accident, wasn’t at

fault,No injuries. but my car gets totaled. Great!

So now I’m faced with a big decision: Do I want to drop thousands on a new

car OR do I want to leave him and move back to Europe with our son.

Somehow owning a car made me feel “attached” to the US. I don’t know

why it did, but It was sort of a big commitment: “If I buy a new car that

means I’m staying here and moving forward”.

A week later he comes home from work. I sat him down and said “I’m not

going to spend thousands on a vehicle if you can’t admit that you had

unprotected s__ with some girl in our home. I’d much rather sell all my stuff

and leave”. His jaw dropped, he thought I’d let it go and he was off the

hook. But he admitted to cheating. FYI I had a fragile cervix during

pregnancy which caused heavy bleeding during intercourse, had to get go

to the ER twice, and had horrible nausea the entire time. So yeah... s__

drive wasn’t the best but I still tried. He’s my first child, I wasn’t going to

risk an early labor for some d__k. Just jerk off for a bit, don’t f__k someone

in our home!. 3 months later I fly back home and I’ve been a happy single

mother ever since.

Best decision I ever made. I’m really proud of myself for leaving. I don’t

think I deserve to be with someone who would betray me when I need

them the most - in such a horrible way (I think cheating in your home is ten

times worse). Yes he is the father of my child and I won’t come between

them but I’m glad I left him.

He gave me the most beautiful gift anyone has ever given me but he lost all

of my respect after that.

Infidelity is painful in almost any circumstance, but when it occurs during pregnancy, it often carries an additional layer of betrayal.

Pregnancy is a period when many couples expect greater partnership, trust, and emotional support.

When that trust is broken, and then followed by denial, the damage frequently extends beyond the affair itself to the very foundation of the relationship.

According to this account, the poster discovered what appeared to be evidence of another woman in the home after returning from a trip to visit family while six months pregnant.

When confronted, her fiancé reportedly denied any wrongdoing, dismissed her concerns, and suggested the item might somehow belong to her.

Rather than continuing a circular argument, she focused on her pregnancy and tried to move forward despite believing she had been deceived.

Months later, after giving birth and unexpectedly losing her car in an accident, she found herself reevaluating her future.

Instead of investing in a new vehicle and further committing to life where she was, she confronted her fiancé one final time.

Faced with the possibility that she would leave, he admitted to the affair.

She chose to relocate to Europe with their son and describes the decision as one of the healthiest choices she has ever made.

An important aspect of this story is that the betrayal was not limited to the affair itself.

The repeated denial forced the poster to question her own perception of events despite having a concrete reason for her suspicions.

Relationship researchers often distinguish between the initial harmful act and the secondary harm caused when someone refuses to acknowledge what happened.

While an affair may damage trust, persistent denial can leave the other partner feeling confused, isolated, and unable to make informed decisions about their future.

Viewed through that lens, the poster’s eventual decision appears to have been shaped less by anger than by clarity.

She did not leave immediately after discovering the facial scrub because she lacked confirmation and was preparing for childbirth.

Once the truth was admitted, however, she could finally make a decision with complete information.

Her choice to prioritize stability for herself and her child reflects an effort to rebuild a life based on honesty rather than uncertainty.

The broader lesson is that healthy relationships depend on accountability as much as love.

People can sometimes recover from profound mistakes when both partners are willing to confront them openly, but meaningful repair begins with truth.

Without honesty, there is little foundation on which trust can be rebuilt.

Regardless of whether former partners remain connected through shared parenting, every parent deserves a relationship in which they feel respected, supported, and able to rely on the person standing beside them, especially during life’s most vulnerable moments.

Here’s what the community had to contribute:

These Redditors praised the poster for leaving the relationship, calling her strong and believing she made the right decision for herself and her child

Noononsense − I hate to see the family broke up but your Ex is a POS. A

guy who can cheat on his pregnant in the marital home is a real

degenerate. You did the right thing. If you stayed you’d have a lifetime of

pain with this guy. I wish you well.

meridenman − If more women were like you, maybe guys would get the

message and start behaving better. You can only be treated badly if you

allow it, and you didn't. Good for you.

r3rain − Ugh, the level of his disrespect for you is staggering. That is sooo

sleazy. I’m sorry this happened to you, but super glad that you’ve pushed

through. You dodged a bullet.

ajaa123 − Oh girl I feel for you. I'm so glad you left your ex. Remember you

are brave and so strong!

nightglitter89x − I admire your strength.

missx777 − You are pretty lucky that you got to leave the country with the baby.

These commenters agreed the ex-husband’s decision to cheat during the pregnancy was an extreme betrayal and showed a complete lack of respect and maturity

minalv − Again, I disagree. It’s not my responsibility be like “hey just FYI

dont cheat on me today” when someone proposes to me and we actively

try to have a baby. Sorry. If you let me to believe that we’re good and I’m

happy. And you have a problem with me that you can’t or don’t want to talk

about and go behind my back.

.. you suck. Like if you’re a piece of s__t and you lie to yourself and to your

spouse about what you want and make them live a lie, then that’s not my

f__king fault. If you have a problem and you don’t communicate or

verbalize it: it’s not my fault. you don’t love me? Break up with me ! That

simple, don’t propose.

Don’t talk about having a child. I don’t read minds. No it’s not OBVIOUS

that the man that showed me love and support throughout my pregnancy

(up until the cheating at least) would f__k someone in our living room. No I

wasn’t “blind”. Some people are just assholes and they do s__tty things.

NOBODY is safe from getting cheated on. NOBODY.

But also :not everyone cheats. And if you honestly believe that because

you’ve been married for years that that makes you safe from cheating/lying

then that’s great ! I hope it works out. But let’s end the whole “You knew

what you got yourself into” b__lshit “you should have caught the red flags”

cause NO. I didn’t know. I was happy.

He made me believe we were happy. I never knew he had an issue. S__ was

never an issue until my pregnancy. Nobody drops hints that they might f__k

someone else while you’re carrying their baby. Sorry this is very long. But

people that blame the person being cheated on for “making bad decisions”

really infuriate me. People are great at lying dude!

One way this could have been avoided honestly would have been him

saying :”Hey babe I really want to have a baby with you but honestly if you

can’t f__k the same for the next 9 months I’m gonna have to f__k someone

else sorry”. But who the f__k says that ? ??? Haha

yorkshireislife − The father of my child cheated on me many many times

whilst I was pregnant. He met old ladies on an internet s__ site and when I

found out (wasn’t hard), he claimed he had a s__ addiction ‘just tiger

woods’. I told him the only thing he had in common with tiger woods is that

he’s a d__k. Then I left him.

10 years later, he’s a miserable p__ck and so ‘woe is me’ and me and my

daughter are doing great! You definitely did the right thing by you and your

child; any man who is happy to risk a life by having s__ with other people

AND you, is completely worthless.

drjgelb − Men are statistically most likely to cheat during their partner’s

pregnancy or in the 1st 12 months after delivery. It’s pretty obvious why

but there are preventative measures that both partners can utilise if aware

of them. Many couples who plan for children go all out trying to conceive

with daily or more frequent s__ until pregnancy is achieved. Cheating is

rare at this stage!

Once pregnant, many women experience morning sickness which

unfortunately can last much longer than just the morning. Obviously,

nausea, vomiting and Accompanying fatigue do not constitute a high libido

environment and s__ frequently disappears at this point. Morning sickness

really continues beyond the end of the second trimester and many couples

will have resumed s__ual activity by this time.

In the third trimester, the pregnancy reaches potentially uncomfortable

dimensions and frequency of s__ once again diminishes. With the birth of

the baby, a whirlwind of responsibility, learning new tasks and sleeping

poorly, often results in women concentrating on their new role as mother

and putting their role as s__ual partner, companion and partner on the

back burner.

For couples who have talked about this and planned for it, life does not

have to become a s__ual desert. The presence of painful intercourse

following obstetric intervention during delivery is another factor that can

prevent return to normal s__ual activity. Studies have shown that most

couples resume s__ual activity between six and eight weeks after the birth

of a child.

Many obstetricians have developed a routine of asking about s__ual activity

at the six week post-natal check and suggesting to couples that it might be

a good time to think about reconnecting s__ually if they have not done so

already. In addition, s__ual disinterest may be the result of post partum

depression.

At the earliest opportunity, couples should communicate about their

aspirations for the relationship during pregnancy and the early years of

parenting and this should include frank discussion about s__ual

expectations & desires. immature men, particularly those with narcissistic

personality traits, find becoming second fiddle very difficult.

They compete with their newborn for their partners’ attention and rapidly

become resentful if they interpret their partners’ changed role as

r__ection. This psychological dynamic is extremely important to be aware

of and to talk about, although the psychological insight of such narcissist is

usually pretty minimal.

In many cases, cheating either in pregnancy or soon after, is a form of

acting out behaviour driven by resentment and insecurity. Ideally, these

personality traits might be detected before committing to marriage and

children but these very traits are associated with deception and secrecy

and often only emerge under the stress of being a new parent.

I won’t go on any further about this area has been well researched and

there is a large literature available for anyone interested. Although couple

therapy can help repair some relationships, in my experience, once

cheating as described above has occurred, reconciliation becomes much

more difficult and I’ll go so far as to say, rarely occurs.

The blatant cheating that you experienced and your partner’s insistence on

lying about his behaviour, tells me that you have made the right decision

and that had you stayed, the behaviour would almost certainly be

repeated, even if couple therapy had been pursued. This story struck a chord because the betrayal wasn’t just the affair, it was the lies that followed and the timing, when the poster was navigating a difficult pregnancy and needed support the most.

Many readers admired her for refusing to settle for less than honesty and choosing a fresh start for herself and her son instead of staying in a relationship built on broken trust.

What do you think? Would admitting the truth have changed anything, or was the relationship already beyond saving the moment he cheated?
