The Dallas Cowboys dropped their third straight game on Sunday, losing 27-21 to the Atlanta Falcons. The offense continued to struggle, failing to finish drives and missing crucial opportunities. The defense wasn’t much better, giving up several big plays, including a wide-open touchdown by Darnell Mooney.
Yet, amid the team’s issues, one player delivered an outstanding performance: cornerback Jourdan Lewis. According to Pro Football Focus, Lewis earned a coverage grade of 90.7, the highest of any player in Week 9. He tied with Jalen Ramsey, as the only two defenders to surpass a 90 grade for the weekend.

In his eighth season with the Cowboys, Lewis has been a key piece of the defense. Drafted in the third round back in 2017, he overcame a significant setback—a Lisfranc injury in 2022—to return strong. Despite his solid play last season, Lewis was overlooked in free agency and re-signed with Dallas on a one-year deal.
This season, Lewis has made his presence felt, recording 32 tackles and three pass defenses while primarily playing in the slot. Head coach Mike McCarthy praised Lewis’s resilience, saying, “He’s fought through a lot to be where he is today. We’re fortunate to have him back at this level.”
While the Cowboys face uncertainty after their third consecutive loss, Lewis’s elite play in coverage is one positive takeaway as the team looks to rebound in the coming weeks.
