New World, with a reliable source claiming a familiar Avenger will make an appearance.
Reshoots for Captain America: Brave New World are underway in Atlanta, and it seems another major Marvel character has joined the cast. According to a recent Instagram post from paparazzi Atlanta Filming, Benedict Wong will reprise his role as the Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, in the upcoming film.
This development, while surprising, aligns with previous MCU narratives. In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Wong was shown meeting with Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel to discuss threats to Earth-616, making it plausible for him to connect with the new Captain America.
Additionally, Abomination, now training at Kamar-Taj, was created by The Leader and could provide crucial intel about the villain. There’s also potential for Emil Blonsky, who worked for General “Thunderbolt” Ross before becoming Abomination, to make a cameo.
This potential cameo could be a spoiler for a post-credits scene or another significant moment in the film, particularly with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon.
While nothing is confirmed yet, Atlanta Filming is known for breaking reliable casting stories. According to Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, Wong might be instrumental in building the MCU’s New Avengers.
A few months ago, Anthony Mackie described Captain America: Brave New World as “10 times bigger” than The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and added, “This movie is a clear reset. It really reestablishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be.”
The film’s cast includes Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.
Julius Onah directs the movie from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, with additional input from Onah and new scenes written by Matthew Orton.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
