Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the executive behind Starz’s breakout smash drama BMF, has been given the green light to create a BMF documentary series.
Showrunners Jackson and Shan Nicholson (Jerusalem: City of Faith and Fury) from G-Unit Film and Television and Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions will executive produce the eight-episode docuseries. Nicholson and Chris Frierson will direct the series.
The dramatized series BMF (aka Black Mafia Family) is based on the actual tale of brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius Flenory, Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi), now has a multiplatform view average of 6.5 million per episode. The Season 1 finale of BMF, which has already been renewed for a second season, will air on all Starz platforms on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Jackson said, “The docuseries will offer an inside look at different perspectives from all of those involved, BMF — Blowing Money Fast”
Original Content from SVP Starz’s BMF documentary series is overseen by Alice Dickens-Koblin, who is also the executive producer/
“The success of BMF demonstrates a continued rise in fan demand and interest in the story of the Flenory brothers,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, Starz’s President, and CEO. We’re excited to dive deeper into the world of Black Mafia Family in this new project with Curtis, Shan, and the teams at G-Unit and Jigsaw
