Katherine Helmond, Soap & Who’s The Boss Actress, Passed Away At 89
Katherine Helmond, who portrayed the sassy Tate matriarch on the breakthrough 1970s sitcom Soap and subsequently featured on Who’s the Boss?, among other roles, passed on February 28 at her residence in Los Angeles of Alzheimer’s complications. She was 89. The news was announced by APA.

What was Katherine Helmond like?
“I was in love with her, she was such an influence on me. From being a single guy with a hit show in Hollywood, through my marriage and having kids — she was with me. No matter what problem I had, I could go to her. Very few people could match her.” Danza shares about his “soulmate.”
Remembering Who’s the Boss at the Beginning? “We luckily got Jessica from Soap. Oh my God, we hit the lottery. She was a consummate professional — never made a mistake and always got a laugh. She was the sexy older lady who could keep up with the young people. She just had a way about her.”
Katherine Helmond discussed achieving such audience reaction in a 2008 interview with the Television Academy Foundation. “Laughter is such a marvelous thing really, it’s such a healing thing, that’s one of the reasons I’ve always enjoyed doing comedy, it was great fun for me because I knew that my character was good, I knew the show was good, and it was giving to pleasure to a lot of people.”
Katherine Helmond’s favorite Who’s the Boss? the episode is the one in which her Mona character attends a graduation party with a college-age male, according to her. The conversation is available in its entirety below.

‘Nick Cannon’ Syndicated Talk Show Season 2 Is Canceled
After just one season, Nick Cannon’s self-titled syndicated daytime talk program will terminate. The two episodes being filmed today will be the talker’s final ones, the show’s producer-distributor Debmar-Mercury of Lionsgate is anticipated to inform the cast.
The program was supposed to take a five-week sabbatical while Nick Cannon was busy filming Fox’s The Masked Singer and VH1’s Wild ‘N Out, with the crew receiving a week’s compensation. Instead, Nick Cannon will permanently halt production, with the staff receiving severance.
There are enough episodes in the can to last the program through the season, according to insiders, so it won’t immediately go off the air.
The Fox Television Stations serve as the anchor group for the New York-based weekday talker. Two spots on the Fox Stations are now available for the upcoming season thanks to this week’s cancellations of Nick Cannon and The Good Dish on Sony Pictures TV, which in January took over for the venerable The Dr. Oz Show. A chat show with Jennifer Hudson was just picked up by the station group for the upcoming season; the time slots have not yet been determined.
Nick Cannon’s The Real could be canceled
Multiple sources claim that The Real, a seasoned panel chat program that airs on Fox duopoly stations, is likewise in danger of being canceled. Producer-distributor Warner Bros. denies this information.
The following season of Debmar-Mercury on the Fox Stations will have Sherri Shepherd as the host. It will replace The Wendy Williams Show, which will conclude its run this season after its host Williams was forced to take a leave of absence due to health difficulties.
The season’s lowest-rated single-host daytime syndicated talk program in terms of household ratings is Nick Cannon, which has averaged a 0.4 rating.
Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, said “It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential but, after a great deal of deliberation and examining various options, we have made the difficult business decision to end production on Nick Cannon. We plan to offer viewers original episodes of the daytime talk show through the remainder of this season. Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures.”
Initially scheduled for an autumn 2020 debut on the Fox stations, Nick Cannon’s cancellation was also revealed by The Sun. When it was suspended in July of that year due to backlash from the actor-anti-Semitic comedian’s comments on his podcast, it was already in production and had received 90% of the nation’s clearances. In the end, the program premiered on September 28, 2021.
Along with his longtime manager, Michael Goldman, and the show’s creators, Katy Murphy Davis and Matt Strauss, Cannon executive produces the chat show The Masked Singer, which he presents for Fox and which airs on the Fox stations.
Gina Carano Is Confirmed To Be In Hunter Biden Biopic ‘My Son Hunter’
Former The Mandalorian actor Gina Carano said today that she will be starring in the Robert Davi-helmed film My Son Hunter, which will chronicle the son of the American president and his scandalous business activities and lifestyle. The image shows the youngest son of Vice President Biden living a high life while accumulating millions of dollars from international companies controlled by Chinese, Ukrainian, and Russian billionaires.
In the film, which is presently in Serbian production, Gina Carano will portray a jaded secret service agent. She joins the previously revealed cast of John James (Dynasty), who plays President Joe Biden, and Laurence Fox (Lewis, Victoria), who plays Hunter Biden.
Producer Phelim McAleer: “She is a world-weary secret service agent present at most of the Biden family’s dodgy dealings. She provides a voice of truth and Sardonic comedy over the absurd dealings of the Biden family and various Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian oligarchs. She is present throughout the film – commenting and sometimes narrating the absurd life and party lifestyle of Hunter Biden and the dodgy dealings of his father.”
Gina Carano said “The story, the cast, the crew, the people, this is what makes art great and this is what we’re doing. I feel excited to be working with incredible actors, a visionary director, and some newfound friends as producers. The script was instantly intriguing and side achingly hilarious to me, especially after being newly exposed to the political realm in 2020. Robert Davi is someone who reached out to me as soon as I was ‘canceled’ in Feb. 2021.
I signed on in support of him and one of my favorite humans Laurence Fox. They both have always been actors I adore watching and now they both have become my friends and mentors. The icing on the cake was getting to meet John James, a wildly funny charismatic, and lovable human. It is such a pleasure to be at the forefront of groundbreaking storytelling.”
Davi said “When we think of the modern female, we look to women that are intelligent, feminine, strong, nurturing and vulnerable and have a sense of humor. I have been blessed by knowing women who have served our nation … I wanted an actress who the audience would believe is capable of protecting such an iconic figure as Joe Biden.”
Following her contentious social media remarks, particularly on TikTok where she equated the political split in the U.S. to that of Nazi Germany, Disney announced earlier this year that Gina Carano wouldn’t be returning to further seasons of The Mandalorian. After her divorce from Disney, she was cast in Terror on the Prairie, a film she is also producing alongside The Daily Wire. The actress was also fired by her agency, UTA.
The producers of My Son Hunter are the Irish filmmaker and journalist duo Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney (Gosnell, FrackNation).
License to Kill, The Goonies, and Die Hard are just a few of Davi’s acting credentials. He also directed and produced the films The Dukes and Magic. Additionally, he has the EP “New York City Christmas” performed.
“We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, Oscars hit From Encanto, Is Selected For Prime Production Number; Cast From The Movie Will Feature
Another important movie song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto, which was not even submitted by Disney and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda for consideration in the category, will be performed on the big show as part of the Best Original Song performers announced Tuesday for the 94th annual Academy Awards. Miranda is up for a nomination for “Dos Oruguitas,” another song from the same movie.
The word is spreading that this is planned to be a major highlight of the show, promoted as the first live performance of the song, which has topped music charts for weeks, according to promos running on ABC, an official press release today, and confirmation from producer Will Packer at the recently concluded Oscars press conference.
As well as in advertisements airing on ABC, a press statement issued today, and confirmation from producer Will Packer at the Oscars press conference that just ended. The idea that this will be a significant feature of the concert is starting to spread. It was promoted as the song’s debut live performance after weeks at the top of the charts.
Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Carolina Gaitan, and Diane Guerrero, from the film Encanto, as well as Becky G and Luis Fonsi, will sing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” during the Oscars, according to Packer, who explained why at today’s press conference.
“If there is a song that unites people this year it is this one, and that is kind of the epitome to me of what movies can do, because people of all stripes, ethnicities, ages, colors, backgrounds, around the world, are singing it ad nauseum, and we are going to help them out so they sing it a little bit more. Our apologies to the parents,” Packer laughed.
Sebastian Yatra will also perform “Dos Oruguitas,” another Encanto song that was nominated for an Oscar, so it won’t be the only Encanto song to be played during the ceremony. For Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature, the Disney movie is also up for nominations.
The 94th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre and will be broadcast live on ABC at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT in more than 200 countries around the world. There will be live closed captioning and audio descriptions accessible during the live broadcast, as well as American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation given by certified deaf interpreters.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is a series that is also available on Amazon from Skydance and Paramount Television Studios.

The information concerning Tomorrow War 2 was not confirmed by Amazon or Skydance. Pratt is shown here reveling in the viewing data from earlier this week:
