Cocktail actress Lisa Banes was murdered in a hit-and-run electric scooter accident on June 4th, according to the NYPD. A 26-year-old Manhattan male was detained in the incident.

Brian Boyd is a resident on the Upper West Side of Manhattan near Lincoln Center. Brian Boyd has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk after striking the 65-year-old Lisa Banes with his scooter.
Lisa Banes was strolling near Lincoln Center’s Julliard School, her alma school when she was struck in the crossing by a scooter. Her credits include the film Gone Girl, the television programs Royal Pains and One Life To Live, as well as several Broadway musicals. Her catastrophic brain damage claimed her life 10 days later.
Boyd was apprehended by authorities after they identified him from a wanted poster, according to police.
Lisa Banes was on her way to a dinner party near Julliard with her wife, journalist Kathryn Kranhold, who was visiting New York from Los Angeles for a role in the Manhattan Theater Club’s streaming production of The Niceties. The scooter allegedly hit her after it ran a red light, according to police.
Brian Boyd almost got away with Hit-And-Run Death Of Lisa Banes
Brian Boyd charged in the New York hit-and-run killing of actress Lisa Banes was almost released due to prosecutors’ confusion.
During a hearing, a prosecutor told the judge incorrectly that defendant Brian Boyd had to be freed without bond. If the request had been granted, he would have been placed on supervised release.
Judge James Clynes of the Manhattan Criminal Court was later informed of the erroneous advice and set Boyd’s bail at $30,000. He was detained on Thursday for the crash that killed Banes on June 4th.
Boyd is accused of failing to yield to a pedestrian at a crossing and abandoning the scene of a collision that resulted in death. On August 11, he’ll be back in court.
