It seems there’s a surprising connection between you and Margot Robbie, as the 33-year-old Academy Award-nominated superstar is revealed to be a huge Lord of the Rings fan.
In a recent interview with W Magazine, Robbie, accompanied by her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling, was questioned about her “cinematic crush.” Her immediate response? Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in Lord of the Rings.
“Obviously there have been, many, many, many over the years, but the one that comes to mind [is] Viggo Mortensen in Lord of the Rings as Aragorn… Strider,” Robbie said.
As for Gosling, his choice was Raquel Welch dressed as a cavewoman on an episode of The Muppets Show (and yes, I managed to find it online, and it’s posted below).“I was Raquel Welch on The Muppet Show when I was young,” Gosling explained.
“She was dressed like a cavewoman. She was dancing with a big puppet spider. And I liked it. I liked it more than anything I’d ever liked before… I always feel like I overshare when I’m… [points to the camera].”
Imagine a rainy Sunday spent watching the extended cut of Lord of the Rings with Margot Robbie. Somewhere out there, someone actually gets to do that. It’s the stuff dreams are made of.
This won’t be the last we see of Gosling and Robbie together. Not only will they be in the public eye leading up to the Academy Awards, but they’ll also star together in an upcoming prequel in the Oceans franchise.
Additionally, Barbie, which Robbie produced and starred in, is expected to receive nominations in major categories at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song for “I’m Just Ken,” and more.
