Mark Labbett, or “The Beast,” will star in ABC’s revival of the game show The Chase.
The Beast is renowned as the show’s top runner, having participated in ITV’s UK version, as well as the Australian and GSN’s earlier U.S. versions. He has participated in over 600 quizzes.
He meets existing chasers James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings, and Brad Rutter in the second season of the game. Sara Haines plays host.
This follows after The Chase was renewed for a second season on ABC. The show, which is produced by ITV Entertainment, offers up to 166 questions on a variety of themes, as well as the possibility to win large sums of money.
The WGA and ITV America’s label reached an agreement earlier this year. Executive producers include Adam Sher, Bernie Schaeffer, and Vin Rubino.
ABC alternative chief Rob Mills said “The Chase is one of those [shows] we wanted to get back on as soon as possible because we really want the momentum of that format to keep going, hopefully, you’ll see million-dollar final chases in this second cycle. But we really are high on that format. We’re excited with how it did this winter and we’re glad we can bring it back so quickly.”
