Neighbor Blasts Music At 7:30AM, Tenant Connects To Their Speakers And Plays Their Own Jam

If you’ve ever lived in an apartment, you know how the battle over noise and music can escalate quickly. One Redditor faced an early morning dilemma when their neighbors decided to blast their music at 7:30 AM.

Instead of quietly suffering through it, the Redditor decided to join the party in their own way by hijacking the speakers with their own quirky playlist, ranging from the weirdest mashups of genres imaginable.

As the neighbor attempts to disconnect and take back control of the sound system, the Redditor keeps fighting back with songs like NWA and the theme songs from Buffy and Angel. Is this hilarious retaliation or an overly petty move? Read on to see how this musical war played out.

A tenant plays a wild mix of music on their neighbor’s speakers after early morning noise

'Apartment neighbors pump their jam at 7:30 AM. I connect my phone to their speakers. A little Ween with your morning coffee, my good sir?'

We’ve had an interesting playlist so far. Bloodhound Gang. Carly Rae Jepsen. Pantera. Cher. “Come Sail Away” as sung by Eric Cartman.

NWA. Jon Spencer. Nelly. Die Antwoord. Corrosion of Conformity. King Missile. More Pantera. Freak N__ty.

PJ Harvey. Baha Men. MC 900 Ft Jesus. The theme songs from both Buffy and Angel. Lucious Jackson.

Wow, I have a lot of Pantera on my phone.

They keep trying to disconnect to play their own music, but if I have to hear the bass through our shared wall,

I’m going to choose the tunes. Let’s dance, buddy.

In this Reddit post, we see an amusing yet mildly rebellious response to the everyday struggles of living in close proximity to others. OP is dealing with noisy neighbors who start blasting their music at 7:30 AM, an inconvenience many of us can relate to when we’re trying to enjoy a peaceful morning.

Instead of simply complaining or confronting the neighbors, OP decides to take matters into their own hands by connecting their phone to the neighbor’s speakers, effectively hijacking the playlist with their own eclectic mix of songs. It’s petty, playful, and oddly satisfying.

The emotional core here is easy to understand. OP’s frustration with being woken up by loud bass at such an early hour is compounded by the fact that they feel they have little power over the situation.

The neighbor is clearly oblivious or indifferent to the disruption they cause, leaving OP to find their own way to reclaim some control. By taking over the speakers, OP seeks a moment of justice, injecting their personal tastes into a space where they feel their peace has been invaded.

From a psychological standpoint, this kind of behavior can be seen as a form of “reactive revenge”, a way to express frustration and reclaim a sense of power when someone feels wronged.

According to psychologist Dr. Robert Cialdini, people often take retaliatory actions when they feel their rights or space are being violated. This kind of small-scale rebellion can feel like a way to restore balance and fairness, even if it doesn’t directly confront the source of the problem.

However, while OP’s actions may bring some momentary satisfaction, they also risk escalating the situation, especially if the neighbors start to retaliate in their own way.

This back-and-forth of petty revenge could eventually lead to even more frustration or tension. As Dr. Ian McKee notes in his study on revenge, while people might feel justified in their actions, it’s often the one seeking revenge who ends up feeling more stressed in the long run.

Here’s what people had to say to OP:

This group suggested torturing neighbors with a mix of annoyingly repetitive kids’ songs and quirky music

90sHouseAllDay − Baby Shark on repeat?

gemc_81 − Barbie Girl is also a good shout. I would time it so that you play it just before they wake up in the mornings.

YouNeverKnow14 − Throw in some bagpipe music too! Or just pick one song and then just keep playing it over and over and over.

These commenters recommended going hard with aggressive or absurd music

foxman2424 − Go crazy hard with some c__nibal corpse , white chapel or even a little lamb of god , make them regret f__king with you

v1ct0r326 − Everyone else is an a__hole by Reel Big Fish. Rick roll them with Never gonna give you up.

Throw in Mambo No. 5, Macarena, and Who Let the Dogs Out. Sprinkle in some 2 Live Crew.

figgypie − Throw on some kids music. Baby Shark, Wheels on the Bus, etc.

It's obnoxiously repetitive and it'll get stuck in their heads whether they like it or not.

Weebl also has some great stuff, like the old Badgers song or Narwhals. Blast that s__t for a trip down memory lane.

Add a dash of Vanilla Ice. Don't forget to marinate with a little ICP.

This group got creative with eerie sound ideas

Star_host − You're loosing the opportunity to play some weird sounds during the night, like weird voices, people walking.

Yatta99 − 1812 Overture is the way to go.

These commenters offered comically repetitive song ideas

WyrbBob − You only need one song. Joe Pasquale, "I know a song that will get on your nerves". Repeat ad infinitum.

zerj − May I suggest playing a whole bunch of "What's new Pussycat" maybe with a side of "It's not unusual"

iconoclastic_idiot − If things escalate find an audio book narrated by Gilbert Gottfried.

This group leaned into quirky and offbeat options

NetWareHead − Needs more chicken dance, its a small world after all and other tunes guaranteed to get stuck in one's head while trying to fall asleep.

Lazy_Kraang − Sounds like a good morning mix. Ween and Coffee almost as great a pairing as Chocolate and Cheese.

hskrfoos − Make a voice recording, "this is dedicated to a b__ch neighbor". Then play "smack my b__ch up"

Was OP’s revenge a musical masterpiece or a bit too much? Some may argue that blasting bizarre tunes early in the morning isn’t the most “peaceful” way to deal with neighbors, but it certainly gets the message across. If nothing else, it left OP with the last laugh and an epic playlist to boot.

What do you think? Should OP have taken the high road, or was this the perfect way to respond to early-morning noise? Let us know your thoughts and maybe share some of your own quirky revenge stories!
