He’s been the top candidate for a long time, but the timing was a problem, as practicing for such numbers is part of the film’s preparation.
From a script co-written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby, the film will be directed by Paul King. Heyday Films, owned by David Heyman, is producing. Michael Siegel and Alexandra Derbyshire executive produce, with Luke Kelly also producing.
Willy Wonka of Warner Bros
It is the third time Warner Bros. has tackled the Willy Wonka narrative, with the previous two adaptations based on Roald Dahl’s iconic novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The first film starred Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka in 1971, while the second starred Johnny Depp in 2005. While narrative details are unknown, the upcoming film will be an origin story for the character and will be the first without Charlie Bucket.
