Woman Refuses to Pick Up After Her Dog, Then Her License Plate Makes the Excuse Much Harder

in Social Issues

Some people walk their dogs through the neighborhood. Others apparently turn it into a full transportation strategy designed to leave the mess somewhere far from home. I think that is where ordinary bad manners become something almost impressive in their level of planning.

One homeowner was mowing the easement around his corner lot when a woman stopped nearby with a large dog looking for a place to relieve itself. She became irritated when the mower kept interrupting the dog and eventually demanded a moment to let him finish.

The OP then noticed she had no bag and openly admitted that she never picked up after her pet. What happened next involved another neighbor’s lawn, a phone recording, an angry gesture, and one very useful license plate. Scroll down to see why police were suddenly much more interested in the complaint.

A homeowner records a rude dog walker and uncovers her habit of leaving messes across the neighborhood

'S__t and run report'

Y'all are going to like this one.

Okay, so I'm mowing my yard ... yeah, I know; I never seem to get a chance to mow in peace.

Anyway, I'm mowing the easements first (y'know, that grassy part between the sidewalk and the curb that—

for reasons only known to God and a city code expert—the homeowner is responsible for, has to pay taxes for,

but cannot build on or plant in because he has to let the township dig up and destroy the easement as they need.

Due to my luck in buying a corner lot, I have two of them, and they are oddly wider than my actual lawns.

So, I make a point of mowing them first. That way, when my mower's batteries run out before I can get to the rest of the yard,

there's a huge chunk freshly mowed that no compliance official could ignore. This requires me to mow in an "L" pattern.

I mention this because I was on the bottom part of the "L" when I first noticed the lady walking her dog. A good-sized dog and a good-sized lady.

They were coming along the side of the church and were crossing the street as I mowed towards them, making my run on the top part of the "L."

I ended up about five feet behind them, mowing toward them, when the dog started looking for somewhere to squat.

He'd pause, start to crouch, then jump up as my mower came closer and jog ahead, then go through it all again.

Finally, the lady turned to face me and said, "***.".

So, I turned off my mower, turned my good ear towards her, and said, "Excuse me?"

She huffed and said, "I said, would you mind giving my dog a minute to do his business?!"

I looked her over while her dog sniffed around. I didn't see a single baggy or anything that could be used to clean up behind her dog.

I pointed this out, and she scoffed, "I don't pick up doggy doo!"

So, I turned the mower back on, and her dog stopped mid-squat again.

I continued mowing while she shot me a look and pulled her dog along to the next yard, where he did his business.

The thing is, I had my phone in my shirt pocket, recording. The lens just clears the top of the pocket, so it sort of works like a body cam.

I started it recording when I turned in behind her and her dog, half expecting trouble. She just had the look, y'know.

I pulled it out when she walked away and filmed her letting her dog s__t on my neighbor's yard and kept it running

as she went further down the block. I wanted to see if she turned left or right, in hopes of maybe tracking her down.

Shipmates, she did neither.

She fished out a fob, used it to unlock a really nice Nissan, put her dog in the passenger seat, then walked around and got in the driver's seat.

Then she drove back towards me, gave me the finger, and turned at the corner, giving me (and my phone) a nice shot of her tags.

I stopped mowing, walked over to my neighbor, and played the video for him.

He called the non-emergency number for the cops and reported her, explaining that we had her on video.

When the officer on duty explained to him that he'd file the report,

but it was highly unlikely they'd be able to identify the woman to issue a ticket, he added that the video included her plates.

We had an officer arrive within twenty minutes.

He was a young guy and openly laughed as he watched her flip me off while driving past ... and—boom—there was her license plate.

We walked out to his patrol car with him, and he ran the plates.. Her address was in a gated neighborhood on the other side of the city.

She literally was driving her dog to a poorer neighborhood for him to s__t on.

The officer had me send him the video and promised that she'd end up with a hefty fine.. I finished mowing, took a shower, and wrote this.

There is something uniquely infuriating about watching someone treat another person’s space as if it matters less than their own. The OP was simply mowing the lawn when a stranger expected him to stop so her dog could relieve itself on property she had no intention of cleaning.

The mess itself was unpleasant, but her attitude made the situation far worse. She openly admitted she did not pick up after the dog, became angry when the OP refused to accommodate her, and then drove away after leaving the same problem in a neighbor’s yard.

Emotionally, the conflict is about more than pet etiquette. The woman seemed to expect strangers to absorb an inconvenience she created. When the OP resisted, she responded with irritation rather than embarrassment.

Discovering that she had apparently driven from a gated community to walk the dog in another neighborhood added an uncomfortable class dimension. Whether that was her deliberate motive cannot be proven, but it understandably made the behavior feel less accidental and more dismissive.

A fresh perspective is that people sometimes behave worse when they believe they can leave before consequences arrive. She was not dealing with neighbors she expected to see tomorrow.

She could let the dog make a mess, return to her vehicle, and disappear. That distance may reduce the social pressure that normally encourages considerate behavior. Unfortunately for her, the OP’s recording removed that anonymity.

Verywell Mind describes a sense of entitlement as the belief that someone deserves special treatment or accommodation regardless of how their behavior affects others.

The article notes that entitlement can involve unreasonable expectations, difficulty considering other people’s needs, and frustration when others refuse to comply. It also recommends clear limits when dealing with such behavior.

Psychologist Meghan Marcum similarly explains that respecting boundaries helps create trust and safety, while ignoring another person’s limits can produce resentment and conflict. Importantly, a boundary does not need to make sense to the other person before it deserves respect.

That insight fits the OP’s reaction. He did not chase the woman, threaten her, or escalate the confrontation. He documented what happened, showed the affected homeowner, and allowed the appropriate authorities to handle it.

There is probably a useful lesson there. When someone behaves badly in public, emotional retaliation may feel satisfying, but evidence is often more effective. A camera, a license plate, and a calm report turned an irritating encounter into accountability without creating a second problem.

The funniest part may be that she apparently believed driving away ended the story. Instead, that departure provided the one detail that made consequences possible.

Here’s what people had to say to OP:

These users were most interested in seeing the video evidence for themselves

ummm01 − the video damnit, we wanna see the video!

Recent-Vermicelli382 − Dude! You can't tell us that a video exists and then not share! ! You, my dude, are a monster! 😆 🤣 😂 😹

These commenters celebrated the satisfying outcome and thought the revenge landed perfectly

EffectiveVarious8095 − This ended in the best way possible. I commend you!

Much-Measurement-568 − GLAD TO SEE ONE WORK OUT FOR A CHANGE!

NefariousnessKey5365 − This is great

These Redditors stressed that responsible dog owners always clean up after their pets

Maleficent-Garden585 − There isn’t anything worse than dog owners that do not clean up after their pets . I can’t stand that s__t .

I’m a dog owner as well but I’m a responsible dog owner that picks up where my dog makes a mess .

People like that need to be called out and embarrassed to hell and back , I’m sure her image is all that matters or her 🤣

CliftonForce − When driving my dog to a park, I often do stop in a random neighborhood to walk around for a bit.

Because the dog likes to explore new places to sniff, and we've been to all the local parks many times already. But I keep a baggie at the ready.

These commenters enjoyed the idea of sending the mess right back where it came from

demdareting − My brother used to use a sand wedge to golf his neighbor's dog poop back.

He got so good at it that he could land the poops on the guys porch.

makojedi2k2 − Your whole neighborhood should go to hers somehow

Ohaibaipolar − This lady has an unofficial PhD in entitlement, Jesus.

Was reporting her excessive, or exactly what repeated irresponsible dog ownership deserves? And would anyone else have managed to finish mowing before replaying that video several times?
