Being Spider-Man’s partner certainly has its perks, as Zendaya recently shared in a fun anecdote on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The star, well-known for her role as MJ in the blockbuster Spider-Man franchise in the MCU, explained how her real-life connection to Spider-Man himself—actor Tom Holland—helped them dodge a bullet, or in this case, a speeding ticket.
Zendaya recounted a humorous incident where she and Holland, along with her mother, were hurrying to a spin class. “Tom and I were rushing because we were late, and he was the one really eager for the class, not me,” she laughed. As fate would have it, they were pulled over for speeding. However, not even Holland’s Spider-Sense could predict what happened next.
“We were going a little fast, we were running late. They recognized that he was Spider-Man, and we were fine. We just got a warning.” Zendaya humorously recalled.
She also shared another story from a trip they took to Paris in the fall of 2022. Despite being advised against it, the couple decided to visit the Louvre Museum. Unsurprisingly, their appearance quickly became a sensation online.
Zendaya, whose on-screen romances range from Dune‘s Timothee Chalamet to her co-stars in the recent film “Challengers,” Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor, has found her off-screen match in Holland. The pair have been together for several years and their outings often draw public and media attention.
Zendaya first starred alongside Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017. This was the film that marked her MCU debut as MJ, meanwhile, the British actor had already made himself known from his appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
Zendaya continues her MCU stint in two more movies, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, as her character enters a relationship with Holland’s Peter Parker. Their movie love story also transitioned into real life, as the pair were seen kissing in a car back in 2021.
Though MJ and Peter are separated at the end of No Way Home, there are rumors that Zendaya will be back in the upcoming Spider-Man 4, with Holland reprising the role of Spidey as well.
