During an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, D’Onofrio was asked whether “Born Again” would push the limits of what’s been done in the MCU so far. His response was clear: this series will go further than ever.
“There are some things in this show that we go much further with than we did on the original show,” D’Onofrio revealed. He also hinted at some chilling moments involving his character, Wilson Fisk, saying there’s a particular scene that he “can’t believe made it into the cut.”

Fans’ anticipation for “Born Again” has only grown, especially after new footage was released at Disney’s D23 expo. The event not only showcased a sneak peek of the show but also confirmed the appearance of a major character. In a move that thrilled many, it was announced that “Born Again” has already been renewed for a second season, with production on Season 2 expected to begin soon.
A Return to Familiar Faces and Stories
“Daredevil: Born Again” will see the return of key characters from the Netflix series, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson.
The new series will continue the storylines that were explored in the Netflix show, which has now been confirmed as part of the MCU.
During the D23 presentation, a trailer teased a surprising team-up between Murdock and Fisk, who are forced to put aside their differences to confront a shared enemy.
However, their troubled pasts threaten to catch up with them. Both characters last appeared in the MCU series “Echo,” and fans can expect to see Maya Lopez (played by Alaqua Cox) in “Born Again” as well.
The series will be part of the Marvel Spotlight banner, which focuses on more grounded, character-driven stories with smaller budgets.
Production on “Born Again” underwent a significant creative shift, with D’Onofrio and Cox confirming that changes were made to connect the new series to the original Netflix version.
Jon Bernthal, who reportedly wasn’t initially on board, welcomed these changes and joined the project after the creative overhaul.
Filming for the first season wrapped up in April, following delays caused by last year’s Hollywood strikes and the show’s creative reset.
