When they were in a relationship in the 90s, Johnny Depp was a jealous, controlling guy who consumed a lot of drugs and alcohol, according to what actress Ellen Barkin spoke to a courtroom on Thursday, during Depp’s defamation trial.
Actor Johnny Depp is instituting legal proceedings against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for $50 million following Heard’s claims of being a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 op-ed. Depp refuses to admit that he abused Heard, yet filed the lawsuit regardless, saying that the abuse was implied and that his business deals fell through as a consequence. The trial that followed has resulted in days of slanderous claims from both performers on the stand and witness after witness testifying to their characters.
Barkin, who previously co-starred with Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, shared that the two met each other in 1990, before starting a sexual relationship in 1994. During that time, Depp “was drunk for several times” and even resorted to cocaine, marijuana, and hallucinogenics, according to Barkin.

Depp was having a quarrel with his pals and assistant in a hotel room in Las Vegas, according to Barkin, when he tossed a wine bottle across the room. The bottle did not hit anyone, but Barkin said Depp hurled it at her for no apparent reason. Depp ultimately terminated their relationship, claimed Barkin.
“He’s just a jealous man, controlling,” Barkin said. “‘Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?’ I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted that it came from me having sex with a person who wasn’t him.”
Earlier in the trial, Amber Heard had testified that Depp hurled bottles at her and in her direction, and he even used one bottle to sexually assault her.
Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez, testified on Wednesday that the couple always argued while Depp was drunk or intoxicated. Henriquez noticed a difference in her sister throughout Depp and Heard’s relationship, she said.
“In hindsight, it was like watching a slow-motion gunshot,” Henriquez said.

“He was always drinking or smoking a joint,” said Barkin.
Henriquez claimed Heard failed to have good sleeps, wasn’t as amusing or noisy, and weighed “100 pounds soaking wet” at the conclusion of the relationship.
Depp grew increasingly authoritarian of Heard’s outfits to certain events, according to Henriquez, forcing her style to become more conservative with time. Depp soon shut Heard off from her friends, according to Henriquez, and he insisted on having constant access to the Aquaman actress’ phone. During conflicts, she added, devices were frequently smashed.
Henriquez also claimed that Depp routinely insulted Heard, calling her a “fucking cunt,” “fucking used-up trash bag,” and “saggy whore,” among other things.
She also testified that when she arrived at Depp’s house during one of the couple’s confrontations, she saw her sister with a cut lip and swollen face.
Heard, who has filed a countersuit, has previously detailed how Depp mistreated her physically and sexually throughout the course of their relationship. Meanwhile, Depp has denied ever punching her and has accused her of being the aggressor throughout the course of four days of his own testimony.
