The revival of the popular procedural Criminal Minds by Paramount+ is still on pace.
It comes amid rumors last year that the development was canceled at the streamer, sparked by comments from show actress Paget Brewster.
“We are still very much in development on Criminal Minds,” said Nicole Clemens, President, Paramount+ Original Scripted Series.
Clemens, who joined the streaming service last summer in addition to directing Paramount Television Studios, claimed the reboot’s postponement was due to a reorganization of the company’s senior team rather than the project overall.
The streamer said in February that it was bringing back the CBS series, which aired for 15 seasons, with the crew reuniting for ten episodes to solve a particular case.
The relaunch is “unlikely,” according to Paget, who portrayed Emily Prentiss in the series for almost 200 episodes. This, unfortunately, does not appear to be the case.
The original show, developed by Jeff Davis and produced by Mark Gordon, featured a group of FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit criminal profilers who used personality psychology and profiling to conduct investigations and uncover culprits. The series followed the crew as they engaged in numerous cases and dealt with personal issues.
How many seasons of criminal minds?
Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Joe Mantegna, Aisha Tyler, Matthew Gray Gubler, Thomas Gibson, Lola Glaudini, Adam Rodriguez, AJ Cook, and Brewster were among the members of the cast during the show’s 15-season run, which concluded last year.
Erica Messer, the longtime executive producer of Criminal Minds, was slated to oversee the creative team, with most, if not all, members of the cast from the show’s last season on CBS set to return.
Netflix has the first 12 seasons of the program available for watching.
With 590 million hours seen last year, Criminal Minds was the third-most-watched series on Netflix in 2020, after The Office and Grey’s Anatomy.
Criminal Minds has already inspired two spinoffs: Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, which aired for one season, and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, which aired for two seasons.
