Sandra Bullock, the famous actress, who is quite reticent and often wants to hide her kids from the spotlight, has recently shared about parenting. The 57-year-old Hollywood star already had an adopted son, Louis (12), when she decided to adopt her now 10-year-old daughter Laila. She talked about the hardships and problems she and her children had during the adoption process, as well as the positive aspects of being a parent.

Bullock and her then-spouse, Jesse James, began the process of adopting their first child, Louis, in 2010. The couple split soon after, but the actress continued to raise her children as a single mother. Bullock adopted Louis when he was just 3 and a half months old, saying at the time, “He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way.” She continued, ” It’s like he’s always been a part of our lives.”

Bullock met her present partner, Bryan Randall, who was a photographer with attitude and parenting support she compliments shortly afterwards. She continued to adopt another kid, a three-year-old daughter named Laila, in 2015. She says she came up with the idea to adopt the girl on her own, and her partner was “scared but so happy.” Despite the fact that the pair ” hadn’t been together long” when Laila’s adoption was confirmed, the actress recalls Randall acting as a parent figure at the time.

Bullock opened up about the difficulties of raising a traumatized child who had been in three different foster homes before being adopted by her. It was clear from the start that it was taking a toll on the girl: “I saw triggers happening on a daily basis,” shared Bullock. She’d hide in the closet, pretend to leave, or hide food, and it was clear that she was scared of being abandoned.

Bullock, on the other hand, made it clear to her daughter that she would always be there for her. She said, “She’d say, ’I’m leaving you.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m going to be right behind you. So just know that you can leave but I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.’” She confesses that raising a traumatized child was difficult. Before the adoption, the actress had to go through an evaluation and complete lessons on how to parent a traumatized child.

Despite this, Bullock believes it was all worthwhile: “When I look at Laila, there was no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” the actress confessed. She also discussed how her partner, Randall, was not initially relevant to the adoption of her two children but is a huge supporter.
