Summary:

  • Fortiche Studio’s Pascal Charrue revealed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024 that they are interested in adapting Takehiko Inoue’s manga “Vagabond” into animation.
  • Known for their work on “Arcane,” Fortiche aims to bring the manga’s depth and stunning artwork to life.

Founded by Pascal Charrue, Jérôme Combe, and Arnaud Delord, the studio initially focused on advertisements, music videos, and gaming cinematics.

A pivotal moment in their journey was their work on a Gorillaz music video, which demonstrated their capability to meet international creative standards.

Their significant breakthrough came when Christian Linke, showrunner of “Arcane,” was drawn to the creative direction and aesthetic of Fortiche’s “La Gaviota” music video.

This collaboration led to several cinematic projects, including the iconic “Get Jinxed” in 2013. The partnership with Riot Games necessitated scaling up their operations to meet the project’s demands.

With the success of “Arcane” Season 1 and the ongoing production of Season 2, Fortiche expanded further, establishing new studios in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands and Montpellier.

The studio has grown from a small team to over 450 people, with a strong core of loyal and talented individuals maintaining the Fortiche spirit.

Fostering Creativity and Innovation: One of Fortiche’s key strengths lies in balancing structured operations for large projects with fostering creativity and innovation.

This approach has allowed them to scale up effectively while preserving their unique creative essence.

The Dream Adaptation – “Vagabond”

Arcane Studio to Adapt Takehiko Inoue's Manga "Vagabond"

In an exclusive interview, Pascal Charrue revealed his dream adaptation: Takehiko Inoue’s manga “Vagabond.

Charrue expressed admiration for the manga’s incredible depth and stunning artwork, making it an ideal candidate for animation. He also mentioned that while Naoki Urasawa’s works have been adapted multiple times, they remain a significant source of inspiration for the studio.

Charrue highlighted the importance of choosing manga that genuinely benefits from being animated, noting that the pacing of a manga, which readers control, does not always translate well to animation.

A Promising Future: As Fortiche Studio continues to grow and take on new projects, their commitment to creativity and innovation remains at the forefront.

The potential adaptation of “Vagabond” is an exciting prospect for both fans of the manga and animation enthusiasts, showcasing Fortiche’s dedication to bringing captivating stories to life through their unique animation style.
