Summary:
- Ian Ousley, who plays Sokka in the Netflix series Avatar: The Last Airbender, expresses his desire to portray Beast Boy of the Teen Titans.

- Ousley’s character, Sokka, shares many resemblances in terms of personality with Beast Boy, making him a perfect candidate for the role.
Ian Ousley, known for his role as Sokka in Netflix‘s Avatar: The Last Airbender, has his eyes set on a superhero role instead of Suki. As DC Studios gears up to expand its cinematic universe with a slate of new films for Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, Ousley expressed his interest in playing an iconic Teen Titans character during a panel discussion at Fan Expo Philadelphia.
The actor shared his aspirations during the Avatar: The Last Airbender panel, moderated by Screen Rant. When asked about other roles he’d be interested in, Ousley didn’t hesitate to mention his dream part:
“I am really a huge fan of Titans, so I would love to be Beast Boy, that’s like a dream role for me. So, maybe one day?!”
Beast Boy, aka Gar Logan, has been a prominent part of the Teen Titans team since its founding days. With the ability to shapeshift, Logan can turn into pretty much every animal on Earth, from a tiny bee to a humongous blue whale. In recent comic runs, the superhero can even turn himself into other cosmic beings, such as Starro itself, making him one of the strongest Titans to date.
DC Studios, under James Gunn‘s new helm, is actively developing new projects, including a live-action Teen Titans movie, following the conclusion of the Titans TV show on Max last year. Although Gunn hasn’t officially confirmed the movie, it’s rumored to be part of an effort to counter Marvel’s Young Avengers.
The script for the Teen Titans film is in the works, penned by Ana Nogueira, who will also write Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. As the name suggests, the iconic DC team consists of young superheroes in the DC Universe, such as Nightwing, Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, Blue Beetle, Cyborg,…
However at the moment, none of these characters are confirmed in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU, nor the studio has found the actors to portray them, with the exception of Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle.
Besides the CW series Titans, the iconic DC team has had several iterations in the past, with another prime example being the animated Teen Titans series by Warner Bros. Animation. If James Gunn’s Teen Titans project comes to fruition, it will be the first time that the team appears on the big screen.
Meanwhile, the recently released Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix series was met with positive reception from the animated series fans. The cast’s acting skills were one of the best aspects of the live-action series, and Ousley was lauded for his performance as Sokka, Katara’s brother, as well. Ousley could make a great Beast Boy in the DCU as well, since both Sokka and Beast Boy share the same goofy attitude and are the class clowns of the team.
