Chris Evans will feature with Dwayne Johnson in an upcoming Amazon Studios Christmas event film.
Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson new movie – Red One
The picture, presently named Red One, is set to begin filming this year. It’s a four-quadrant, globe-trotting action-adventure comedy that imagines a whole new world to explore inside the holiday genre. Details about the plot are being kept from the public.
The concept is based on an original narrative by Hiram Garcia, President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions, which Amazon Studios acquired following a fierce bidding war last year. Jake Kasdan (Jumanji franchise) is directing from a script by Chris Morgan, who has previously worked with Seven Bucks Productions on films including Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, The Fate of the Furious, Furious 7, Fast & Furious 6, and Fast Five.
Kasdan is producing alongside Melvin Mar and co-producer Sky Salem Robinson through his production firm The Detective Agency, with Morgan for Chris Morgan Productions and Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia for Seven Bucks.
Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans TV and Movies
In June, Johnson confirmed his involvement with the film, which is set for a Christmas release in 2023. It brings him back together with Kasdan and his Seven Bucks partners after their blockbuster success with Sony’s Jumanji flicks Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and The Next Level (2019), which have grossed a combined $1.7 billion worldwide. While both Johnson and Evans participated in Shawn Levy’s Disney comedy Free Guy in 2021, Red One is the first time the two will star in a picture together.
Chris Evans is most recognized for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Steve Rogers (aka Super Soldier Captain America). He will next be seen in the Netflix feature The Gray Man, directed by the Russo brothers, and as Buzz Lightyear in Pixar‘s origin narrative Lightyear, which will be released on June 17. Chris Evans’s also due to act in the next Apple film Ghosted and is in production on an untitled Gene Kelly movie, which he’ll both star in and oversee.
Chris Evans also starred in Adam McKay‘s Netflix end-of-the-world comedy Don’t Look Up and Mark Bomback’s Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob, in which he played an assistant district attorney whose life was turned upside down when his son was accused of manslaughter. Knives Out, The Red Sea Diving Resort, Before We Go, Snowpiercer, The Iceman, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Street Kings, The Nanny Diaries, Sunshine, Fantastic Four, and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer are among his other recent films.
