2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Chris Hemsworth. While we wait for news about whether he’ll return as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s diving into two new franchises.
The first is “Furiosa,” a Mad Max prequel exploring the origins of Imperator Furiosa, now portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy.
Hemsworth plays the villain, Warlord Dementus, and I’m excited about his character’s impressive motorcycle revealed in a recent sneak peek.

Hemsworth took to Instagram and other social media platforms to share a picture from the set of Furiosa, captured by photographer Jason Boland.
In the photo, he’s in character, accompanied by the caption, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

Given the Mad Max movies’ penchant for vehicular chaos, that’s a strong possibility. Additionally, Hemsworth’s flowing cape and the stuffed bear necklace add an amusing touch to the scene.
The first Furiosa trailer gave us our first look at Hemsworth as Dementus back in late November 2023, showing his flair for the dramatic, typical villains.
Some fans noticed his distinctive nose, but hopefully, it won’t distract from his role opposite Anya Taylor-Joy in the film.
Hemsworth described working on Furiosa as the “best experience” of his career, thanks to director George Miller reigniting his “creative energy.
In this Mad Max movie, the title character is taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and captured by the Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus.
As the Horde clashes with Immortan Joe’s Citadel, Furiosa must navigate trials to find her way home.
Hemsworth and Taylor-Joy are joined by Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, Ally Browne, and Angus Sampson in the cast.
Furiosa hits theaters on May 24th, followed by Hemsworth voicing Optimus Prime in Transformers One on September 13th. You can also stream Mad Max: Fury Road on Hulu.
