Emerald Fennell, an Oscar winner with Promising Young Woman, has signed a deal with MRC Film to helm her next movies, which will begin shooting this June.
The storyline of the movie, which will also be written and produced by Fennell, is being kept a secret. We recognized, though, that it will tell an obsessive tale. Emerald Fennell’s new movie will be produced by Margot Robbie‘s Promising Young Woman producer LuckyChap Entertainment, with MRC Film serving as the studio. The casting process is now underway.
Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell’s highlight directorial movie, had its global premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, as well as nominations for Best Achievement in Directing and Best Picture. Carey Mulligan, the film’s lead, was nominated for Best Actress, while editor Frédéric Thoraval was also honored.
Emerald Fennell was arguably best known before the popularity of Promising Young Woman as a screenwriter and executive director for the second season of BBC’s smash show Killing Eve. Fennell is also a performer who was nominated for a Supporting Actress Emmy last year for her role as Duchess Camilla Parker-Bowles in Netflix‘s The Crown’s season 4. Emerald Fennell’s also starred in movies including Vita & Virginia and The Danish Girl, as well as television shows like Call the Midwife.
A modern musical rendition of Cinderella was just presented to the West End by Emerald Fennell and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The renowned multi-hyphenate is also working on an anthology program for Showtime alongside Stoller Global Solutions and Sony TV. UTA, United Agents (UK), Management 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, and Teller represent Emerald Fennell.
